Yes loneliness but also can be more sadness and anxiety, or trauma that leaves someone feeling detached from things that once gave enjoyment. It maybe fiction but how were the women able to heal him? It's a magical mystery and a sublime song.

If he couldn't join in the singing or feel it consciously, yet maybe it healed him. Or is the reference to grass and night air pointing towards marijuana? Just my wild guess. "I have seen the world's most beautiful places, still I feel as if I'm a walking machine." That lyric fit me especially hard. I set a goal, to stay alive, only for the purpose of beauty. Beauty, art in every aspect, form, is the only real reason for me to stay. The feeling of missing something, something so beautiful that it inspires me. And in that you can count literally everything. You can count your family as beauty, the tree full of red leaves, the random girl who gave you a smile, a stranger's baby waving and just being cute, a new poet to read. And even if you are satisfied, you remember how it doesn't matter. Everything i saw was seen my millions, maybe billions of people. I won't have the time to spend my time with this, my sole purpose will be money, doing work I will hate passionately. Maybe, maybe, I'm just too stupid and pessimistic, I just need to find a fulfilling reason.
@moonsaer3 жыл бұрын
I feel the same, maybe ur right and it is pesesmistic, I see no objective meaning in life. But it doesnt mean I hate life, infact sometimes I feel I live a richer life than most who just work, work and die. I "try" to enjoy every second of my life including the painful parts if that makes sense. This can be a fullfilling life purpose in and of it self no? Idk im just rambling
@c2e.78773 жыл бұрын
@@moonsaer There is nihilism, both positive and negative. The negative one is like "every goal I achieved is meaningless, people before reached and a people after me will reach that. The ideology focuses that everything we do is meaningless, all we did will die with us, while we alive we aren't special. In the positive way you can live your life your way. No one cares, also your body of work dies within you. I just graduated school and will go to an undergraduate college. I have to work and go to school there. The thought is frightening. You set your purpose in your own happiness, despite the nature tries to destroy you. I feel empty. At school I at least had a goal, to wake up, leave the house and sit there for hours. I'm not productive and every joy I had turns me unsatisfied.

@@c2e.7877 It all depends on ones precpective of the world. But im no expert at it either
@c2e.78773 жыл бұрын
@@moonsaer Our main reason as a species like every animal is to reproduce. That's about it tbh. In a nature side of view. In a human type of way, it's to work. You can only survive via money, since the world evolves around it. You need to work to live a decent life atleast. Everything we do, like hobbys is really to entertain ourselves, give "alleged" purpose to our life. Why are there more artistic people and more logical people? Artists hide, express in their work. They imagine, dream about more. Logical ones are more pessimistic, they follow set patterns. You are born with it, and your environment really sets in. Like anxiety was the reason I got into art, it was an escape. Now depression takes everything for me. I can go in much greater detail, but my language barrier and the fact I have to write it, also laziness is a reason to cut it short.

That was one of the inspirations. When I wrote the song, I talked about a ‘screen,’ for example, but I didn’t necessarily think of iPhones, but after thinking about it, I tell myself that I’m talking about that. But I also talk about love, the love of the family, but also the love outside of this circle. From the moment you receive the love of a foreigner. From there your life sparkles, it really begins. The girls in the song don’t sexually appeal to the boy, perhaps a bit, but that’s not what it’s about, it’s that he begins to believe in life through this feeling.” -Tamino

This is the most beautiful song I've ever listened to. I never cease to admire this timbre and these glissandos in every song.

I do not believe that this voice, these words came from a human. This is something magical. A voice and an instrument can only fill the stage so much. That gives me a goosebumps

Above all - above all the beauty that it's blessed with, this song also caries some ancient, profound, unexplainable sincerity which breaks out from every single beat; it's there, and it hurts, and it cuts me very deep.

The fact that so many people can relate with this song and also feeling lost, walking machines that nothing makes any sense is scary AF. I'm one of those too, and also like most of the people in these comments I discovered this song in mine darkest hours... at least is good to know you are not as alone as you imagine.

Imagine, the girls around town assemble The traveler's son they come askin' Where he came from 'Cause they've watched him Washing his face near the pond A curious boy and they wonder Where he came from He says, "I, I have seen the world's most beautiful places Still I feel, as If I'm a walking machine Watching it all through a screen There is nothing in between to me This might as well not be real" Imagine, the girls take him up on a hill It's an Indigo night, there's a chill The boy is confused but he's still As they gather around him So many of them, they all sing About the pleasures of life And he cries, "Why can't I sing along with some feeling, or some meaning? It feels like I've always been blind I don't know why you girls are so kind For there are so many in line Whose lives aren't as lost as mine" Now something happened there The smell of the grass, or maybe the air There was no more despair Just something about that night Maybe the girls, they lit some light And made everything right 'Cause he's never been More alive

I am from Alexandria in Egypt and I have always wanted to live in Cairo to feel truly Egyptian. I am very grateful for this clip because it brings together a place and a person that I love. Thank you, Tamino.

Imagine a country where you hate everything there. but being away makes you homesick. Like all homes have flaws but you can't help but miss it. The old-streets, your family house, your friends who once lived there, the feasts and holidays. your grandmother cooking and hugs. a million memory of love keeps you bound to a certain place forever. That's how i feel every time i see this video. All the love from Egypt. :)
