Tamiya 1/35 Famous Generals - Kit Review

A short review of Tamiya's classic model kit, in 1/35 scale, "Famous Generals", released in 1988, under several different Kit Numbers; 3618 (This particular kit), 118, and 35118.
This nicely detailed kit includes parts for the assembly of 5 very famous WW2 generals; Patton, Eisenhower, MacArthur, Montgomery, and Rommel, with accessories.
A nice little shelf display, or "conference" diorama, model kit.

I built this kit 25 years ago and I still am amazed at how closely they resemble their real-life counterparts. You will find a scaled-down version of Rommel in the 1/48 Fieseler Storch.

I just found this kit at a Gun Show for $10. I see the box art on the back has Tamiya color codes.

Nice pick up. These are getting harder to find. And yep, Tamiya only gives it's own colours for painting it's kits, but most paint makers have equivalent colours. Cheers !

Chris, there's one on Ebay right now in New York being sold by "rbcr17" with German weapons and British stretcher party Tamiya kits, if that helps! Cheers!

@@markhammar3977 Hi Mark. That one is (strangely) still on Ebay 6 months later (?) for about $28 U.S. plus postage. On Ebay today, there is one in Oz for around $21 plus postage, and a couple more in the US, if you're interested. Cheers!

I guess since this kit was released during The Cold War, perhaps Tamiya chose to include only famous Western generals, and decided to include Erwin Rommel as well, but no Russian, or Japanese, generals. Master Box, of Ukraine, however, has their "Generals of WW2 era" kit, (Kit No. MB 35108, issued 2012) that has one general from each of the major players in WW2, which you might still be able to pick up, unless you're in russia, that is.
