This has to be the best classic Astute in 2024! Love the hi-caps and that sexy-looking TTC gear box. 😍 Totally agree that the translucent wing sides are necessary to show off the cool rear end. Subbed by the way.

Thank you so much! I'm really happy with the results, not bad for my first vintage Astute. I also have a vintage Super Astute that is on the restoration list...need to source some parts, but that might have to wait till the winter. I love the wing sides smoked, I'm glad others like it too...it definitely helps guide your eyes to the over-engineered (but functional) rear suspension and the TTC. Thanks for the sub! Lovely build dude. I got that front bulkhead brace for my Madcap hybrid and I couldn’t work it out for the life of me!! Great looking buggy pal and should go great

Thanks Craig, it came out better than I expected to be honest. The chassis was a pleasure to build, and the Gun Metal fits it nicely in my opinion. I've run it a few times already, it's quick, responsive, and looks so cool running. It is so iconic. I think it wouldn't work for you because you used the Madcap front bulkhead, but I could be wrong. I remember your build, it was fun to watch it come together like it did.

That turned out Awesome (😉) I love the Astute one of my favs along the Egress. I think i have 3 Astutes, and 1 ReRe I used to race Astute back in early 90's so i have tons of parts because of that.

Thanks! I've been starting my own parts collection too, I actually have a Super Astute that will be getting rebuilt at some point...it's on the list at least. It is a vintage one, not the 2018. @@foyjustice7212 Thanks! I love my astute, but you definitely got the better RC. I have a JRX2 I'm making a video about. It was a race buggy right out of the box. The Astute couldn't compete with it. But don't tell Tamiya fans that lol.

It turned out looking super cool! It looks great in the gun metal and I really like the smoked wing sides! The wing sides go great with the smoked gear cover and the stickers worked well with the gun metal paint too. Great job and I don't blame you for not fussing with video or pictures while building it.

Yeah, sometimes a man just needs to build and listen to music and escape everything else 😂 I'm real happy with it, the Gun Metal just gives it that little extra depth that it was missing with the red. Makes it look more significant. Not sure if that makes sense. I wanted to try smoking another wing years ago but never did. This time I bought 2 just in case I hated it...but I really like it! Now I have an extra wing. Guess I'll have to build a Super Astute! 😂

I know, I love the look of the Astute, how low and wide it looks. It also drives great! It corners so well, and can handle high speed. I've driven it 4 times already, it feels different than most Tamiyas I have. Very nimble and easy to control.

Love it, i stupidly sold my super astute a few years back now 😭 really hope we get a rere of the astute or super astute 🤞 i went all out on it. Full carbon, hi caps ect. And i would do it all over again haha

Yes! I really hope they rerelease the Super Astute, I have a vintage one that needs parts 😂 I haven't had that one on the channel yet. I love driving the Astute, it handles great! Hope you can get your hands on a Super Astute again.

They need to make the original astute again. I think it was the first car they put a slipper clutch on.

I don't think Tamiya will rerelease this one, if anything they will rerelease the Super Astute again like they did in 2018. The original didn't have a slipper clutch, but it was on the hop-up TTC gearbox that I have on this one. The original diff was a problem so the TTC was the fix.
