The mechanical engineering in this Avante is amazing.
@Matteomeier7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Sometime I it feels a bit over engineered... but this is the fascination...
@martinb.7704 жыл бұрын
@@Matteomeier "overengineered" already was the criticism shortly after it came out and proved itself somewhat damageable and easy to break with the original cast parts. Who didn't like that, went over to the Egress, which on the other hand exchanged the timeless elegance of the Avante to a maybe better race car, but a rather ugly and re-simplified construction details.

When I look back and remember that I had one of the first Avante's in Germany in my hands ... and put it back on the shelf to buy a Clod Buster instead ... I could kick myself ... don't get me wrong, I had lots of fun with the Clod. Just having in mind, that I could have had an Avante at that time. Remembering the die casted suspension arms ... now I just have the service sheet with the parts breakdown from that time. Matteo, you're always bringing up good old memories with your videos. I've already watched your Avante series, it was great. I love building kits, too. I've had a majority of Tamiya kits, about 7 in all from the 80s, from the original Lunchbox to Astute, which I've lost many from when I was a kid. Then about 10 years ago I built a Sand Viper and in 2015 I built a Super Clod Buster, which I still have both.

I used to drive it back in the day, and I'm sorry to say that the Avante wasn't a very good buggy. In fact, it was a lot better on tarmac, or hard packed dirt. In many ways, the suspension was the weak park of the Avante. A much better Tamiya offroader, was the Manta Ray, and even that is old fashioned by now.
