Have a look at this one, it seems belt drive is smooth, this cool buggy definitely suggests so.
The Tamiya DB01 is a cool buggy and with my currently favourite power system, the Holmes Hobbies Retro Sport 21 turn motor, powered by a Hobbywing 1080 ESC, this seems to be a nice power ratio for a buggy like this, not too explosive.
It wasn't that easy to get my hands on this buggy, it had to be ordered from Japan, which proved to be a challenge. Luckily the seller was really nice and helped me a lot tracking the package so I could declare it in customs before it would get sent back.
Thanks a lot tokyo-express_0, you been very helpful and of course I appreciate you selling me the buggy.

So the video is my usual 3-part concept, and the rules are as always you can skip the parts you might not need, whatever actually, you just do as you like...
Yeah, and the music used in this video is another tune from White Bat Audio, check the link below if you're interested:

Hi Mads and thanks for another entertaining 3 part video! I love what you did with the body shell and the paint, plus the addition of the webbing for the vents you made, that looks really cool! It looked (and sounded) so smooth out there running. The only belt drive RC I have is the XV01 and that is also noticeably smoother than my shaft driven cars. Now I've seen this video I definitely want a DB01!!!! Thanks for adding to my ever increasing "I WANT" list! As always I enjoyed the babble at the end. That seller was so good, the little note is a lovely thought and it makes a big difference, cool you payed homage to it on the body! I've had similar issues with the hassle of sorting out import charges, what a pain in the ass that is! Take care and have a great weekend there my friend!

Thanks Mark, my friend! I know at least I got one who bothers to watch the video to the end, ha ha! Thanks, I am beginning to enjoy the body work a lot more, and I really want to do some more paint videos, but just my RC area is really messy, hopefully in the autumn I will manage to tidy and be able to shoot more paint videos... Yeah, belt drive is really special, and of course your lovely XV01 is belt drive. I felt I gambled a bit by buying from an unknown seller from across the globe, but any doubt were put to shame, very nice customer service. Thanks again for the great comment, and have a great rest of the weekend!

Thanks Addam! Yeah, I was happy how this one turned out. Related to your recent video, I can tell you I spent many hours on the prep work on this one, very many, ha ha! Looking forward to watch a bit more of your paint video, I didn't get far enough in it to comment yet... This DB01 is sooo smooth, I love belt drive now, ha ha! Hopefully DB01 becomes available in the West again at some point. Have a great rest of the weekend, bud!

Amazing work Mads. I have one of these chassis stashed away for the future. I have wanted it ever since I saw it some years ago even when I was having a break from RC. It looks amazing and I am very excited by your awesome video!! Loved the story about where Thanks Japan came from ❤️ It looks so smooth and a modern classic Tamiya which I can’t wait to enjoy! Thanks brother 👍🏻🙌🏻

Thanks Craig! So you just have the chassis and missing all the components? Or you have a roller? I first wanted to buy the Durga bit by bit, but so many parts are unique, so I gave up and just ordered the kit. Happy I did, the deal went alright as I described in the video. I have built a couple Tamiyas "from scratch" and I have to admit it is a hassle and it is expensive, much easier with the kit. Yes, I think this one is a modern classic, actually most Tamiyas are classics, ha ha! Looking forward to see when you get your project started, buddy!

Love the paint job. Looks awesome. Very inspiring. Good on you for acknowledging the positive experience with the seller. Keep at it with 1/8 scale. You’re further ahead than me, mine is still in the box. No one gets good without being crap first.

Thanks Peetor! I'm happy you like it, I am also really happy how it turned out, and I was able to include a bit of story both in the paint job and the video. And thanks for the encouraging words, buddy! I am definitely learning some lessons in RC, it shows how diverse the hobby is! I think that MP10e is set up for a much better driver than me, it is very nervous in the cornering, I probably need thicker diff fluid, but I am still researching it... The other thing I noticed is being far away from the buggy on a track, I can't hear it revving that well, I'm sort of not in contact with the car that well... What 8th scale you got? Hopefully you manage to build it soon and have some good times with it! 8th scale are so cool. Might be intimidating, but awesome!

@@madsrcbuggy I bought a second hand Mugen MBX6 that the seller built but never drove a few years ago. I have been slowly getting spare parts for it as it is 4 models old now. Just have to bite the bullet, solder the electronics, give her a paint job and get a 4s battery. Wish me luck 🍀

Great entertainment Mads! What a cool buggy man, I've heard lots about them but rarely see them. Nice chassis design for sure.... love the belt drive set up, shocks worked well, and boy that steering servo was fast and powerful! It looked like a total joy to drive, handled well, and extremely smooth, at the same time! Looked like you were having a lot of fun fella. Great format on the video, liking the little chats at the end.... adds a nice bit of personality to the content. That top force you briefly showed looked like an absolute ANIMAL!! 🤣 Cheers matey. 😊 👍 👍 👍 👍

Thanks Yoda, great comment from you as always! Yeah, the DB01 is great, I wish they would be available over here, but thankfully it seems it works fine to order from Japan also. It handled great, I love this buggy. Very strange to compare it to that Top Force with same motor, it was a completely different beast, as you said. I should make a dedicated video for that Top Force also at some point, ha ha... Happy to hear you like the format, these videos are quite a bit of work. I like to think of them as a "service" to someone who has searched for that particular vehicle and wants some info, hopefully parts 1 and 2 will give a good impression what the buggy is like... Part 3 is more optional and I feel I can babble a bit and towards the end sort of talk about stuff that is ongoing... I also want to do more talk videos, just haven't managed to do them yet...

@@madsrcbuggy Yes mate, a very handy reference for anyone who has searched for that model for sure. It's not really 'babbling' at the end, it's all useful info mate...... sometimes this is needed in videos as there is not enough room to get everything down in text! And, YES..... would LOVE to see a feature on that wild top force at some time mate! 🤣 👍 👍 👍 👍

Hey Gary, Kamtec has an aftermarket Durga body, I don't think I can put link, but I checked, and they even have it on stock, just 12£. It's hidden in 18th scale leaxn bodies for some reason, and they also have the Baldre, for a bit of variation. Wow, the RRR is cool! I watched a video from Mechanic after Hours, very nice build.
