Looking good, yeah! Great vid. Loved you also measured the run time. Been planning a run time video too. And yeah, the Awanfi battery works great. Still have mine too. Glad you got one too!

Thank you Mikael - Yeah, wasn't sure about how run time would come across on video - it would be too boring to do it in real-time, and a very long video! Can't complain when someone gives you a battery to test! All the best! :-)

That DT03 chassis is so surefooted and competent - it was a pleasure to watch it in action. I also enjoyed your methodical approach to giving us really dependable information on the performance and runtime offered by the Awanfi NiMh.
@MarkBryanRC6 жыл бұрын
Always a pleasure to read your well-spotted observations, Del! Yeah, I could not put it better myself - "surefooted and competent" describes the DT03 perfectly - it's so stable and easy to drive. I hope the non-biased review is of use to viewers, the Awanfi really does deliver, and is very competitively priced at £12.99!

Very nice run! I have a Tamiya Saint Dragon bought and built in 1990 when I was still a teenager. The chassis is very similar to the DT-03 and performs quite well. Recently restored it and having loads of fun with it again.. Does 16MPH on the original brushed 540 motor and electronics with a 2s 1500mAH Li-Ion battery. I will soon convert it to brushless, 3100kv motor and 45A ESC are on the way. I have nothing against NiMH batteries, in fact I used them a lot with success in the past. But nowadays I much prefer Li-po and Li-ion batteries, main reason being they are much lighter than NimH. And the power to weight ratio is just incomparable. I think the ideal battery for the DT-03 would be a 2200mAH Li-po, that's what I will be using in my Saint Dragon after the brushless conversion. Cheers and never stop having fun with RC !!!

Thanks for the great comment! That Tamiya sounds very interesting, it is new to me! But re-engineering and re-using a classic Tamiya is music to my ears! So glad you have got it going again, and yes, the LiPo is probably the best battery to go for in this car. Thanks again my friend, and I wish you lots of fun with your Saint Dragon! :-)

Cheers Ric! Yeah, the DT-03 is often overlooked but is a really smashing RWD buggy, and not too expensive either! Wow - 32mph ain't bad - we have yet to break the 30mph barrier with out Tamiyas on NiMh batteries! Hmmm - faster motors definitely = more drivetrain wear! Worth it though :D

Everything was just Chips with that unknown Batry Mates!!! 🏆 VERY impressive runtime. Since I've finally gotten through the Hype vs Common Sense about Lipos..... I'm not looking back. 😎😉 I bought one, a 5200 mAh 2S for $21.99US, and was given a 4000 mAh 2S. Of course I can't buy anymore till God knows when..... But I have to tell you - *both of you,* even though they're Rated at 7.4 volts...... Fully Charged, they both have 4.2 volts per Cell. That's *8.4 Volts!!* Same as a 7-cell NiMH!!! AND, the Voltage (and speed) doesn't drop off 2/3rds of the way through the Charge Cycle, like NiMH Batteries. 😵😱😀 Cheaper by capacity as well, if one doesn't need Brand Name hyped Batries!! 😎 The 5200 mAh Lipo runs my 14.5lb. Wraith, for OVER an Hour!!! 👍👍👏👏👏👏 You merely have to be a little more careful, and run a Storage Charge Cycle, when not using for awhile. Never store them Charged or Discharged. That's about it! The "Explosion Videos" are almost ALL very old and/or ABUSED Batteries! 😫 Not entirely fair. Nearly all ESCs today, come with Lipo cutoff - automatically shutting down the ESC (but not Steering) when the voltage drops to an unsafe level. Never below it! I've learned a LOT about Lipos over the past few Months, and have been quite impressed with the actual results. Your decision of Course, but I firmly believe that they are definitely worth giving a go!! 👍👍 Even if you just try ONE. Redo a Speed Test that you've already done with a NiMH. Should be a pleasant surprise! 😉 Happy Christmas my Friends!! 🎅🎄😊 Carmine 💥 ⛽

That DT03 Chassis looks like allot of fun! Seems to handle well, does it have allot of understeer during heavy throttle?
@MarkBryanRC5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robert! It sure is a nice chassis to drive, very stable for a RWD buggy. I depends on the surface, but it tends to kick the tail out and oversteer nicely under throttle out of a turn. On loose surfaces it can understeer a little when turning into a corner! But overall I think it's great! :-)

Hi Santiago - I doubt it my friend! Although I have never run an RC10, I know it is more of a race-oriented buggy, costing more than 3x that of the DT03 Tamiya!
