Thanks again Glenn for the shout-out on my Astute replica. 👍. I used a pair of adapters which I think were for the Brat but they only needed a very thin shim on the inside plus a thick washer on the outside to bring the shoulder of the axle to just above the outside fixing surface of the wheel. The nut would then fully tighten and still leave the wheels to freely spin. For sure not a mod that would stand up long to regular abuse, but just right for the shelf or leisure running.

I just got my adapters in today, months and months after this video has come out. I haven't any shims yet but already I can see my subaru brat axles are not long enough with no shims. May be time to hit the machine shop and start meddling. need to fit tires with less traction roll and have 2 rear sets off a Grasshopper 2 to keep the look.

Great informative video Glen. I've put the wider version carriers on monster beetle spindles fitted to a Brat to allow rear width hex wheels to fit on the front. I've added a washer on the wheel outside before the nut to also allow greater free movement. Thanks.

What diameter shims are those? I'm new to RC, and I've ordered these hex bearings for my racing fighter so i can fit different wheels. I'm assuming you can get different thicknesses of shims, but it's the internal diameter I'm wondering about.

Hi glenn is to nice see you experiment thing . tamiya stock is boring. Use a little tread lock & high torque servos. Tries 2 rear beefy tyre tire on front corner much better.

Looks epic to me! I’m for spikes every tine I don’t care what car it is 😂 maybe off-topic but how does putting spikes on a front wheel drive car compare to having spikes on the rear of a front wheel drive car such as the Kyosho maxxum FF? It came stock like that but were they more for looks or are they actually necessary? Just wondering...

I grabbed some similar adapters for my Super Hornet when I was resto-modding it. I had ordered buggy wheels without realizing they were 4wd. I had to drill out the center to 5mm, but I didn't have enough thread showing, and tightening fully locked the wheel. So my solution was similar to yours just back off the nut until the wheel spun properly. Suffice to say, I shattered those rims, so now my Super Hornet is sitting on some Sand Viper Speed Disc rims with the tires from the exploded rims. These are my two current runners: imgur.com/a/M0u3rgo
@TAMIYALegends4 жыл бұрын
Oh no 😬 I better get this out for a run to see if it’ll work on this car 🤔🤷🏼♂️
@K-Anator4 жыл бұрын
@@TAMIYALegends I don't imagine you'll run in to any issues as long as the wheel spins, which it appears to. With how loose I had to keep the Super Hornet though, I definitely lost a few nuts. In the end though, I feel like a proper set of 2WD rims is the best way to go. Less messing about with spacers, modifications, and nuts flying all around.
