And many thanks to you, Derek, for doing the tag video! I really enjoyed you chatting about your first Tamiya, such a beautiful truck. Obviously not the best performing truck, but who cares when it looks so scale and has such charm. Perfect for any trail run, especially being permanent 4WD. Loved the humour in the video, good old Pete! The highlight for me was the end of the garden run where you imposed Pete's face in the headlights - Haha - priceless!!! :)

Great chat Derek and a lovely bit of kit you have there mate. Well I didn't know some of these three speed kits were 4WD in all gears, my Bruiser is only 4WD in the lowest gear. Great stuff again mate and keep'em coming.

Hi Rob. Thank you very much mate. I must admit I didn't know the Bruiser only worked in 4WD in low gear until recently when the HG P407 copy was released. That's why I made a point of mentioning mine being 4WD in all three gears in this video.

Ha, thanks for the mention and a lovely double entendre! Very enjoyable video Derek. I hadn't realised that some of those 3 speed trucks were 4wd in all gears. Looks really cool. I notice that you are saying Tamiya like the Americans. Get a grip man! So is that your garage you have set yourself up in? You could be building kits out there surely? Is it a wallpaper table? Anyway it's an ideal set-up for doing some presenting on KZbin. Top work my friend 😀
@hollyhillrc
@hollyhillrc 4 жыл бұрын
No problems 😄 Yes I recorded this yesterday morning in the garage, and I may rename my channel to "Pasting Table Productions". It could be used for a build, but it's not really practical all year round. It's very cold and damp in there during the winter, and we have a resident mouse that likes to leave it's wee and parcels everywhere. The RC's on the shelves are usually wrapped up in plastic. I had them on show for the video. When the Jaaaag's in there you can't really move because it's a standard garage full of stuff.

@@hollyhillrc hey I hadn't spotted my face in the headlights the first time round. Brilliant 😂 I think I was already typing the comment at that point. Well I guess you could use the garage in the summer months if you were desperate to build something and couldn't get the use of the dining table. I was forgetting that you put the Jaaaag in there. There was a time when I kept the car in the garage but obviously not now it's the hobby room. The car can get wet while I'm all toasty building RC's 😀

Hi Nick. Thank you very much. They don't perform like our Axials, but they do look very scale. I can't help but to have an attachment to this one as it was my third ever RC after my SCX10 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon. We are keeping safe and well thanks Nick. Hope you and your family are too my friend.

That is so nice Derek!! 😎👌 Don't think it would ever make a good Crawler... But that doesn't matter, does it? People lose the distinction lately. It's a TRAIL Truck. Damn good one at that. I understand about the Springs... My Second Tamiya was the Blazing Blazer. It was like the Axles were bolted straight to the Frame!! 😲😖 But I'd give most anything to get it back. Thanks for sharing, and please stay SAFE! 😷 Carmine ✈🚂🚙

Thanks for the link that was an interesting watch. I used to own several of the Tamiya haulage trucks that used this gearbox and you're right those gates on the tranny are essential for changing gears. You do though have the option to set the gearbox in one gear of your choice. At the truck club I attend you will occasionally hear an ailing gearbox. Horrible grinding sound ( probably bad builds ), I never had any problems. It's a lovely trucks though, I just can't understand Tamiya's pricing at £600.00+. Happy New Year dude...👍🏻👍🏻.

You're very welcome. This was a prebuilt when I bought it five years ago. I've had no issues with it apart from the "upgraded" steering it came with. But since I've changed it back to the stock set up the suspension works a lot better. The gearbox has always been spot on and only the servo needs a little adjustment now and again. Now I have a lot more experience with RC I would love to build the Toyota Tundra Hi Lift. But I agree that these kits are over priced so I can't justify spending that amount on one..... Yet !

Awesome stuff man it really looks good. I was going to get rid off my tundra but it looks so scale. I just finished doing some upgrades I added a RC4WD R2 transmission and a set off RC4WD 1.5 mudslingers and took some leafs out of the suspension. Test run today fingers crossed lol
@hollyhillrc
@hollyhillrc 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sean. Thank you very much my friend. I was hoping you'd see this. I totally agree. They're not the best offroaders, but they're definitely among the best looking scale RC's. I love mine despite its limitations. It's all back to stock now, which I must admit, I really like. It only has the main leaf and the smallest leaf on the suspension set up, but it's still very stiff. Tamiya used to have softer red leaf springs for them as an optional hop up, but I don't know if there still available. But I only use mine for light trailing really so my setup is good enough for that. I'm glad you didn't get rid of yours. I quite like the Tundra, but I'm tempted to get the Hilux version. I didn't build the Ford and I'd really like to build one now I've had more experience with RC. Hope your test run went ok mate : )

Holly Hill RC yeah I kept it as stock has possible. I’m really liking it a lot I’ll look into the red springs
@hollyhillrc
@hollyhillrc 4 жыл бұрын
@@seansrcconstruction I was wrong about the red springs. They are by RC4WD store.rc4wd.com/Red-Super-Soft-Flex-Leaf-Springs-4_p_917.html They are hard to find but they are the same size as the Trailfinder 2, so a soft alternative may still be available. As you run the truck more, the stock leaf springs do loosen up, but it takes a while. The biggest problem with running just a small leaf with the main leaf, is you can get axle warp if you run it hard. This wears out the springs over time and bends them. My rear axle is slightly out of line, but I may be able to straighten it by adjusting the two short tie rods. Another way to soften the suspension is to remove the springs from the shocks. I haven't done that yet, but may give it a try.
@seansrcconstruction

Holly Hill RC Thanks man I’ll definitely be looking into these. Good idea with the shocks never even thought about that
