Good issue to point out. Good tip. A dot of super glue will work to. But way back in about 86 when I got my first R/C , Blackfoot. I noticed this problem soon after. I just used a pliers and crimped the aluminum edges slightly. You can even do this while assembled. But the diff gears benefit greatly by very thin shims against the bearings. Build it so the teeth feel notchy, but rotate without much bind. It will break in after a few runs, but won't start skipping teeth. A very thin shim is all you need. I like useing a thin scrap of lexan body trimmings. Cut and drill to your desired specs. The edges by the flat tend to be the thinnest area. Different spots vary in thickness. Happy R/C ⚡

I’m a little confused 🫤 , what is the actual problem with that plastic bush spinning? There is a bush also on the other side of the gearbox and they just cap off the spindle which in most cases is sitting in a coup,e of bearings on the counter gear so that the counter gear driven by the motor is spinning freely, to then drive the diff gear and out drives. I am really not sure what benefit of sticking the tape on to stop the plastic bush from spinning is actually having on the general running of the blackfoot. Is it not designed to spin a little being a plastic bush in a round hole with no cut outs to stop it spinning.
@ShenRC2 жыл бұрын
Hi You do this so it wont eventually start getting real lose in the gearbox side plate from wear. Thanks for looking.
@gregarnone Жыл бұрын
You are corrct. those bushings spinning have nothing to do with the ORV gearbox issues. The problem is that the metal sides of the transmission seperate when accelerating and cause the bevel gears and spider gears in the diff to slip and eventually strip out. the main diff gear and counter gear always stay meshed. also if you do want to stop the bushings from spinning there is a way better fix. when assembling the gear box simply put a small piece of black electrical tape and put it on the white cap as you push it into the metal gearbox from the inside. it keeps it tight and you wont have a big ugly piece of servo tape that everything sticks to hanging off the gearbox.
@lentner3 Жыл бұрын
This isn’t an issue if you build the gearbox correctly and use bearings
@ShenRC Жыл бұрын
Hi it does it with bearings it's a faulty design from tamiya.I have bearings in all of my ORV chassis and been building rc kits for 40+ years.

I have no idea how you keep track of which transmitter goes with which vehicle. I know you've used the DumboRC transmitter, so, why don't you fill the transmitter with as many vehicles as it will hold (usually 10) and put 10 transmitters aside? As the elf sends you even more vehicles, it'll lighten the load.

@ShenRC9 ай бұрын
If it does spin eventually it fits in the side plate even more loose then the gear that rides on this shaft can move and wiggle around it's always better to stop a part from wearing and causing play if you can.
@rcmaniac456110 ай бұрын
This is a non issue.
@ShenRC10 ай бұрын
It rally is not that bad but that part should not be spinning in the gearbox side plate, after a long time of it doing this it will get lose in the side plate and the gear riding on it will move around like on a worn bushing because of it even though you have ball bearings in .
