I used to use a brand new X-Acto blade for the stickers. You can just score around the outside of the sticker, and then they peel off the sheet, instead of fighting to get the backs off and cut around with scissors. Second i get a spray bottle of water and a drop of dish soap. and you spray the body down where youre putting the sticker. This allows you to slide it around like a water slide decal to get in the right place, instead of peal back up and damaging em. Once its where you want it, press the water out, with your fingers or a credit card and they stick permanent. Also youre spot on about the hairdryer to get em to bend around curves. I Miss putting the cars together, and paintin em. Thanks I enjoyed your vid.
@poorboysrc10 ай бұрын
I've tried the X-Acto method, but for some reason, I find it harder to control that blade than I do using scissors. It's the part I enjoy the least when building a new kit, but I guess it's all part of the experience. Haha. Thanks for watching! 👊🏼
@kanedaadenak708810 ай бұрын
@@poorboysrc It helps if its a curved x-acto, not the flat blade that comes to a point. But after all, everyone has there own methods. We do this hobby for the fun of it. You had me feeling Nostalgic, Myy first Rc Truck was a Tamiya Clodbuster back in the 80s. You would think they would have atleast started using Bronze bushing buy now . Thanks the video, i enjoyed the content. Happy holidays.

@@kanedaadenak7088 that's good to hear, dude. A little nostalgia is a good thing, right? Haha! The Clod Buster is still an icon today, with a major following 30+ years later. Nice one, Fil! Great build right there! Agree the smoke looks so much better on the windows! Yep, those friction shocks are better than the "frictionless" TT02 shocks but as soon as sand and dirt gets into the rubber tubes they are useless, your oil shocks should just keep on performing!!! Always enjoy your builds & comments. You're never afraid to be human and embrace the genuine joy our hobby brings you. Then you honestly share it. Thanks! FYI, if no one has answered your question about the mysterious "extra" gear covers on one of the parts trees, I can. I think that tree originated with the TL-01 chassis. Wheel Carrier B Part #50736 has been and is still a staple in MANY kits. Tamiya should publish a part interchange manual. Auto makers used to do it and it was invaluable when sourcing parts. Often that elusive part you need is in a bag from an obscure or unpopular model just waiting for you to discover it. Build on!

Those covers are there simply because that part tree is for the TL01, hence the covers. Same is also used on the MF-01X. WR02 (Wild Willy 2) also use the same parts. For you shocks you could also have used longer rod end. Some kits have spare rod ends you can use. I also use Traxxas 1942 rod ends as the allow more pivot than the stock rod ends if you are building something that needs more angle than stock gives.

PoorboysRC that's looks absolutely spectacular and stunning. I wasn't so sure about this until now I've seen it built and I bet it looks even nicer in person like not on a video. I'm in Australia and these are pre order at this stage , but until now I wasn't really sure. Now this video has made my decision a lot easier. It looks beautiful. And it's a lot bigger than traditional Tamiya RC cars and buggies. But I suppose it scale of a Ford F series truck. Id love to see a running video of this truck and how the gear drive internals run compared to shaft drive traditional Tamiya chassis. And the Super stock TZ motor should be great too. I've got 2 Super stock RZ motots one each in a Hot Shot and a Super Hot Shot.I use a nvision 2s lipo and a 13 tooth pinion gear plus full Ball bearings and the Super Hot Shot gets 28 miles per hour.( 45 kilometres per hour here in Australia ) and it wheel stands. But getting back to your squash van it's beautiful. Oh yeah it just hit me.! Squash and Pumpkin are both the same type of vegetables. So this is like paying homage to the Midnight Pumpkin from the 1980's.and it's styled as a 1950's Ford pickup truck . Oh Man!it's been all over KZbin and the internet for the entire year at least and I just realised that. Squash is just like Pumpkin and it's got Pumpkin decals too. AWESOME MAN 👌👍💪

That's a kit I would like to get early in the new year, I have spent way too much on Tamiya this Christmas 🙂 Just looking at the headlights and Wonder if it's possible to fit the headlights from Bronco body? The body turned out great, look forward to seeing it running and those shocks look so good 👍

Hmmmm, I wonder if they'd work.... I'd check if I had one, but unfortunately I don't. But with a little creative tinkering, I'm sure a guy could make it work! 😉

@@adrianharrison5208 yeah it sure would look good with some LED's in there, wouldn't it? Oh, and are you the same Adrian Harrison as Van Isle Disco? 🤔
@adrianharrison520811 ай бұрын
@@poorboysrc no that's not mean, what is van isle disco?
@poorboysrc11 ай бұрын
@@adrianharrison5208 Oh, OK. I had to ask. Van Isle Disco (Vancouver Island Discovery) is another KZbinr who also lives on Van Isle, like I do. His channel focuses on him off-roading in his Land Rover Discovery, which I also drive. I thought, if it's the same guy, this'd be way too cool!

I like the pearl idea, might go clear pearl all over
@poorboysrc11 ай бұрын
That would be pretty wicked, man! You might need two cans of the white pearl, though. It's a really big body, and that white pearl doesn't cover well.

I bet this would look great with a woodgrain motif.

Awesome video. Thought of getting this toy, but I think it’s a pass😂. Just found you channel and I gotta say the name of your channel sure doesn’t reflect your content as you have so much RC’s on the wall and mods done to your toys😂. Very ironic! I would say a real poor rc guy would have less RC’s on his wall and probably less mods I would think🤣. Great content though. Keep up the great work on the toys!☺️

Hey Christopher, thanks for watching and commenting. I'm definitely not a poor boy, more of a "financially secure middle aged man." LOL! But that doesn't have the same ring to it... 🤣 But no, the name Poor Boys RC is an homage to my past, and the past that many of us had as kids in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. I grew up extremely poor, and would stay up at night reading through my Tower Hobbies catalogs, Tamiya books, etc. and dream of driving all these great cars some day. Fast forward 35 years and here we are! Hope you're enjoying the show, my man! 👊🏼🍻😁
