Hi Gavin, you've definitely got a steady hand when it comes to painting the drivers face, I really appreciate the hard work you put into it and I will send the picture after I've ripped it out the box.

Awesome videos mate! Tamiya takes me back to my childhood. Always wanted one but never lucky enough to get one for Christmas. Now I can spoil my 6 year old boy and buy him the cars I always wanted! Got a frog built and just ordered the hornet. Your videos are so helpful for very amateur builders. I’m now an rc kicks addict!!😂

Just what I needed. I was too aggressive with my paint when I restored a M03 mini. It looks ok now but I sprayed the metallic too heavily on the first coat.

I'm sure about this kit, but Tamiya usually number the decals in the order in which you should apply them to make it easy to get everything right.

Hi Gavin, My wife bought me a Hornet for Christmas. I'm looking forward to building it. You did a great job with the build. Have you got any info on the exact colours you used for the driver and the brushes that you used? I still need to buy some paints and brushes for mine. Keep up the good work. 😁

Will you let me in on some advice about a Old Buggy I got I have all parts every thing is Great condition except front wheel have flat spots from sitting. Is it worth trying to fix! Thanks hope to hear back from you
@RCKickschannel5 жыл бұрын
What buggy is it? Only thing is the front tyres, well that's not an expensive fix so I would say yes, especially if you want to drive it.
@jtb-fpv66995 жыл бұрын
Silly question. Why don't they do sticker's that you put on the inside first then paint over them. They would be protected from fading, not scratch, scuff, come off in crashes or spoil if they get wet.
@RCKickschannel5 жыл бұрын
JTB-FPV MCI will do decals like that for you. It’s because (as far as I can see) apart from stickers on say the bonnet, putting stickers on the inside is really hard because you just don’t have the room to get your fingers inside the shell. I could be wrong as I’ve never tried it.

Now here's one I'd love to have... Back in 84, I went from the Frog to the Grasshopper... and moved up from there. I've never owned a Hornet! 😭 I would do it up in Black and Yellow, like the Japanese Hornet. The ONLY way I'm going to get one is to win one... So I hope you do another giveaway! Carmine ✈🚂🚙

I took out my Hornet today (bought back in the 80’s!) but unfortunately, the servo which controls the motor, is jittery as hell and also randomly cuts out. There are no short circuits that I can see - do you think the servo is on it’s way out?!
@RCKickschannel4 жыл бұрын
Good clean and oil the MSC for a start. You should be able to tell if it’s the servo by disconnecting it and attaching a servo horn with a pencil glued on it. It will visually amplify the rotation so you can check how smooth it is.
@RCKickschannel4 жыл бұрын
Also make sure your antenna is as fully extended as possible in the car
@deans65714 жыл бұрын
@@RCKickschannel Thanks - I've actually tried both of these already. The servo just continually jitters, even when the remote control is not being touched.

Never realised you painted from inside also using Brillo pads on it don’t this scratch it! Maybe I’ll buy the xsa easier option haha
@SpeccyMan3 жыл бұрын
They are not Brillo pads and the whole point of using them is to scratch it a tiny bit. That is what he calls keying. The problem with the XSA option is they fit the plastic bushes and not proper metal bearings. You also have to install a servo and radio gear. Personally I don't think they are such a good idea if you want the full build experience.
@butchmeister803 жыл бұрын
@@SpeccyMan yeah thinking about a kit now as already got two pre built and a kit would be fun

Why don’t you use the soapy water trick to manoeuvre your stickers? Does it affect the way they stick / last?
@RCKickschannel5 жыл бұрын
Gurpal Ruprai Hi, You know I’ve never tried that on Tamiya decals. Not sure if it works or not.
@lj03oem5 жыл бұрын
@@RCKickschannel It makes placing stickers soo much easier,just ease the water from under the stickers and they stick down just as well-a hair dryer helps too.

Hope I’m not teaching grannie to suck eggs .....always paint the dark colours first. You may have been able to mask the roll bars with the stickers inside on the opposite side it would have been used on the outside. No huge masking job. No worrying about the window masks. ..... just sayin .....

You sure you wasted enough masking tape?? Most of that could have been done with paper. Never ever use washing up liquid to wash a body. It's got greedy in. Cream cleaner If you cut stickers out with the backing attached then just cut a small amount off them you can position it then press he non backed bit down n peel.
