Great video and just the best hop up for the ORV's ever!!! 😊

Yeah, I don't have to think about wearing up that standard diff. Still, would love some telescope axles for this one too. Nothing more, and then the ORV would be perfect in my eyes.

Nordic RC Visions Yeah that would help but either Thorp or TrackMaster made some back in the 80's or 90's just finding a set would be the problem thou..So you going to keep the MB stock or you planning other mods?

nice assembly.. Those darn little ball-bearings can be a pain in the Rump...lol Nice work. Thanks for sharing.. :)

RcNickster Yeah if one doesn’t use a blanket those tiny balls will be all over the place :-) Thanks for watching and the continious support RcNickster!

Great video as usual - I like the way you picked up the tiny bearings with screwdriver and grease! Looks like it will improve drive greatly as my Beetle lifts and spins the inside wheel on every tight turn. Am I correct in thinking that this won't fit into the original '86 release version? Or is it only the spur gear that is different to the re-release? I don't have a new Beetle to compare too =)

Mark Bryan RC Thanks Mark! Yeah, hopefully this will give some nice limited slip of the diff and at the same time reduce the pressure on the gear box sides. As far as I have understood (I haven’t researched it) the only problem with fitting the new MIP diff in the 1986 versions is the old drive axles. It was designed for the CVDs - my guess is it will also fit with the dogbone upgrades. But I haven’t tried that out. Check out AMPro Engineerings videos about it. He is the real expert on this! :-)

Thanks Mikael - will check it out - will be a great upgrade if it will fit!
@NordicRC7 жыл бұрын
Mark Bryan RC I think the gears on the 1986 and 2015 are identical? I do not know. Never had a 1986. So the only problem would be the old drive axles. Or maybe the dogbones do not fit the diff joints too, but I see no reason why they should not fit. I should have tested it :-/

As far as I can tell, the newer version has the same drivetrain as the Subaru Brat, which has different spur gears to change when you run different pinion gears - as far as I know you only get the option of running the standard 10 tooth brass pinion on the original '86 version. Maybe your knowledgeable viewers can enlighten us?

Nice!!! Do you think it’s worth doing the same thing on the tamiya Frog? Nice upgrade it seems!
@NordicRC7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I have no idea since I have never had a Frog. Same chassis but I do not know if it has the same gears inside. Also, this diff needs the universal drive shafts which is standard of the Blackfoot and Monster Beetle re-releases. You could check out AMpro Engineerings old videos on the diff (from earlier this year). He knows everything there is to know about the MIP Super Ball Diff :-)

Nordic RC Visions will do thanks Buddy!!! I’ll have to look into this further and find out if the diffs are the same. Just watching your video of dismantling, it looks similar or even identical to My Frog. Mine is a re-release and it comes with the dog bone setup type drive shafts. That was replaced with the old hex type shaft, on the original. But not sure if the gearing had an upgrade too! Yeah I’ll checkout ampro!! Thanks!!!

Hello. Unfortunately too weak for brushless power. You have to lock it. And it will run and run .... 🚀✌
@NordicRC7 жыл бұрын
Werner Racing Team Just gonna run it with the stock motor so everything will be alright! :-) Thanks for watching, mate.

Does the Mip ball diff can only go into the Transmission case one way?

Uhh, been too long since I installed it. But yeah, don’t think it’s symmetrical

Great upgrade but for me I have never liked ball-diffs
@NordicRC7 жыл бұрын
Neither me. Too much maintenance, but when they work they work a lot better. Limited slip. And at least this one's is much more durable than the stock one. Thanks for watching, my friend.

I wish Tamiya make all rc vehicles into brushless. Maybe Tamiya will listen to us if Tamiya got million emails about request for brushless. lol!!
@NordicRC7 жыл бұрын
jdpasl Brushless can be fun but I think equipping all Tamiyas with brushless motors would be a shame :-) This one, my Monster Beetle, will just run on it’s stock motor. Plenty of speed for this old design. And even though many of the kits come with a brushed motor I don’t think omitting them would reduce costs significantly - so one can always throw in a motor of one’s own choice during the build. But I got a couple of brushless Tamiyas. I even run my Bigwig with it and it’s falling apart :-)

Nordic RC Visions Very true.

Robert Green Tamiya would be popular if Tamiya is same to Traxxas and Arrma.

Not popular tamiya sell more cars than all other manufacturers put together so they must be doing something right.

I just wish that Tamiya do same way as Traxxas to have brushless and ran fast and bashing for fun. Thanks.
