G’day Adam, I bought my friends Fox 33 years ago. What a great buggy, a few years ago. bought the sway bars for the car, unfortunately I couldn’t get the sway bar to work efficiently as it would raise the front wheels so I removed the sway bar altogether. I keep the buggy as a roller with the other RV cars on a stand. Those were the days! Great introduction, I look forward to the nextNovafox video.

Thank you Paul. Yes it was a little issue that I have no idea what happened, seems to be a little online about the gear box etc. it’s definitely not a smooth gearbox and it’s about noisey.

Great video! Interesting about your gearbox. I just built mine last week that I had for over a year now. My gearbox was almost seized and I had done everything right. I backed off all screws to the casing to the point that is so lose. And mine still has resistance. I sat the wheels off the ground and let it run to try and wear a bit and it was smoking🤦🤷. It loosened a little and I've only driven in my house to test and as soon as you back off the throttle it locks. Lucky it was only planned for the shelve but still this was one of my favourite as a kid and i badly wanted the Fox

Yeah mistakes happen but originally the gearbox was Tight. So I’m either thinking the casing was too tight or the diff was Slightly off when it went together!

I like the ps59 blue , I have an original and the way the chassis sandwiches everything in is a royal pain i you have to make any adjustments. Your nova fox turned out really nice . The gearbox issue was strange good thing you were able to find the parts. Looking forward to that Egress build.

Sounds cool I just got a Horizon Hobby commercial that's even more awesome pretty good content yeah that's what I'm talking about you did it pretty nice I like how you put the foam on the servo so it won't scratch the body I think that's a good little detail sanwich chassis now that sounds delicious with all the fixings I like the shock in the front that's really nice that's why I want a Hotshot also I like the shock in the front and a long skinny body and the sway bars and their really awesome this one has two shocks on the back and the a arms look pretty bulky so that's always a plus it does look like a racer what's faster than a Nova a Nova Fox it's like a comment with the Fox on the end I changed my name because of you I like it even better yeah that is how you got to take the whole car apart just to put something in it in my opinion that's not really worth it but you got to remember it was thought of a long time ago it wasn't thought of recently I bet you back in the day the racers really didn't like that. I like how you stick in something it's not going to overpower it that's what I did with my ECX amp it is really nice just stock but a sports tuned motor that's just a little bit more pep how about this how about the hobby shop gives you bearings with the kit because when you buy it from a hobby shop it will give you better customer service the person would want to buy more kits because they were happy with the bearings they got and you don't even have to tell them it was free they just give it to the customer and they're happy and you're happy that they enjoyed their build that's just good business like I hope I win cuz it says Joker in the front yes I love the little fox on this side there will be no other Fox like that but Adams the Hotshot has the different rear shocks that's the reason why I wanted it plus there's many rip offs of it anyways great content maybe next time you can do a build with your wife or a losi would be cool and if you put some marks on the floor you probably could start a outside track since that's your driveway PS I love the gold rims got too end with the song Everything You Touch turns to gold

Very surprised that you had diff issues. Ive built over a dozen Foxes, with the stock diffs, and Thorp upgrades, and never had a problem with gear bind. Maybe you were right about tightening up the box too tight, but there is usually the brass spacers in it to stop it actually crushing it part number BC6 Tubes. Great build, always going to be my fav vintage model in the Tamiya range.

Not sure what your referring too, but gear box shouldn’t rattle or slide once built

I just finished building my Novafox and noticed when you were rotating the rear wheels it doesnt seem to be spinning quite freely. Mine doesn't have that issue and I even used tamiyas anti-wear grease on the diff. Curious as to why it is.

I had something not right! I ended up have the gears fail. I replaced with a new gear set and it was spinning freely 😎

Not to be that guy but i really wanted to see the differential torn apart😢. Or at least build. Looks good. I have an original i stripped out but im just learning rc so I was needing some diff guidance.

I rebuilt it about 3 times, stripped 2 sets of gears! But now it is perfect! I have no answers to what my issues were with the diff

Great video. Intriguing, I bought one of these, built it and the gearbox has been a nightmare. Going from reverse to forward it makes a horrid stripping noise. Stripped it down, Re built it and same issue. Bought a whole new gear set and gear housing plus parts bag C, had the exact same issue again. So upsetting as such a good looking car but want it as a runner! Any ideas/help from anyone welcome!?

I’m having the exact issues with the nova Fox! 3 gear sets now stripped and I cannot explain why! I’ve rebuilt the car multiple times and cannot figure out what is happening or why.

RC Action Australia Just as a reference, my original Fox is a runner. I have had very few issues with the gear box. There are even some screws not tightening anymore in the plastic, it’s a bit of a mess but it runs like an actual fox. So it is possible to run it and run it often. I have heard stories about the metal gears in the diff on the rere having some casting burs and lines and that it’s important to smooth those out before running the first time.

Had issues with my gearbox also, so was very surprised considering it's a basic build. Mine was a pinion to counter gear problem as the manual states where to place the pinion for a 16t pinion and a 17t if I remember but mine came with a 15t. I had to mess around with the mesh as I was getting a crazy crunching sound, stripped it 3 times l, still not perfect and clicks if I go from forward to reverse harshly. Not impressed with the gearbox tbh.

Hi, that’s exactly what mine was Doing! Clicking from full throttle forward to reverse. I originally had the Sport tune motor in so it was probably making the issue worse!

You have the bevel gears in thr wrong location. You need to switch their positions. The aren't identical. I put them in the wrong way and the gears were rubbing on the inside of the gearbox. That's what caused your stripped gears and that's why it's currently loud. It needs no "break in". Mine now spin freely, with no friction.

Should I go box art PS4 or I don't know go metallic blue? Yeah so after getting the gearbox built I had the same thing occur, then I took it apart and put it back together properly. I was trying to use a 15 turn coreRC motor but the motor wires are not long enough. So I might solder on the original Tamiya motor wires to the coreRC motor. But its a beautiful build Adam 👍 I hope you enjoyed it too. I did the front bearing upgrade too.👍👌
