I think just because it is simple but tough and I can relax and enjoy watching it go together instead of focusing to no mess up anything like on e new kits. For the street driving these tires would be great, they would never wear out and probably not get enough traction to flip it over! Yeah, not very often you are going to get the oil shocks with a CW01 chassis! Funnily enough it is like $8 more then the Lunch Box is so you are really getting them for free. I was surprised they did not crank the price up for including them. These tires are super hard compound and have no vie to them at all. Anything softer and it would have been better. They are not bad looking tires, just more for decoration than functional use though. They would be great one pavement, most likely never wear out! I was not thinking about all the painting when I started it, then I looked at the manual for the color and there is a lot to do on it. I will give it a fair chance with the stock tires and wheels but I have the other ones ready to go... I did think it was odd they gave you CVAs in this kit and it was less than $10 more expensive than the Lunch Box is. Personally I prefer my Lunchies with the stock bobbly and wobbly suspension. I put CVAs on the fun runner and it lost a little bit of its charm and character. It is a bit more stable and less prone to flipping so that is a plus!

The battery compartment is a carry over from the original Pajero release. It was very similar to the CW01 chassis tub without the additional second layer under it so the back tray is where you placed the battery. They made it fit their old hump-pack batteries. It was a slick way of doing it. Now on the actual CW01 chassis there is the lower section added on where the battery goes but they kept the body the same. I am pretty sure the bigger tires will end up on it, I will give the stock ones a fair trial though. So far it is not looking good for them though! LOL!

Great stuff Addam! I didn't realize this came with oil filled shocks so that's a nice cool surprise from my perspective. But I agree with you on the tires. The bronco comes with the exact same tires as you know and really for a trail, crawler, 4WD truck...they aren't going to be very useful for whatever you're using it for. I LOVE the tread patter and the tires, theoretically. BUT in reality they look the part but don't act the part. The body...it gets confusing. I saw Andy from Andy Robinson RC do an unboxing of this one and it was all pre-painted which, again, was a nice surprise because IF I were to get this one it meant it was already painted in my favourite colour. But, alas, that was only for the european market so hence the confusion once again. Like Forrest Gump says..."you never know what you're gonna get" :) Anyway...great stuff. I'll be very curious to see this once you've changed out the wheels. But I think I like to see a few rounds of your track with the existing ones too just to compare.

Don't be intimidated. The instructions for them are very easy to follow, all the hardware is scale sized in each step to take the guesswork out of that. I would suggest getting one that requires minimum painting as that can be more tedious and nerve wracking than building the kit. The TT02b kits (Plasma Edge 2 and the Neo Scorcher) and the DT03 Neo Fighter are great buggies to start off with. Easy to build, tough and fun to drive. The Lunch Box is less painting than this one and is the same chassis and a ton of fun to drive. There are lots to chose from and if you get stuck with something there are tons of folks to reach out to here that will help out.

@@oldscoolcooldiecast1879 Yeah if you got the painting part down then the building and wiring is not problem. The modern electronics are super easy and the only two things to do is remember which goes into channel one and two on the receiver and centering the servo before installing it! For the channels on the receiver it is the old saying to live by "one to turn and two to burn" so channel one is steering and channel two is the esc. The instructions walk you through all of it. I think it's a good looking truck or whatever you call it. The paint color was a great choice. With those little wheels I think it may have a greater tendency to rollover. It will be interesting to see it tun. It's hard to understand why Tamiya would select such hard tires. Maybe they will grip well on the street. Your explanation of the build was very good. I did see one reviewer who said he thought Grasshopper wheels would fit. I have no idea if that's correct.
@AddamsPlayground11 ай бұрын
It should look pretty cool once it is all painted up! I forgot how much detail painting would be needed so it will take most of this weekend to get it done. The original Pajero release had smaller wheels and tires but it also did not have the lower section of the chassis either so it was a much smaller thing overall. With it one the CW01 with the additional lower portion of the chassis the small tires look a little odd. I will give it a fair trial and see what it looks like and how it performs stock. I am pretty sure the big tires are going on there for the long haul though. You could put the hopper wheels on there, the rear end is identical and it has the hopper wheel adapters on it already. The Hoppers, the Hornet and the CW01 trucks all share that same rear end setup! The smaller hopper wheels and tires would be even more comical though! LOL!

The cool Potenza slicks would look good on here. I have not looked for a while but they are usually pretty pricey and have to be shipped from overseas. I do need to look into ordering a few sets to have on hand. I have the CVAs on my fun runner and it kind of takes away a little of the fun factor from them, for some reason the stock setup seems more fun to me. It does not ruin it but it does dull some of the characteristics of the CW01 a bit. It should look pretty slick all painted up, taking longer than expected but I think I need to lower my expectations as everything nowadays seems to take longer to get done! It looks great. Do the oil shocks help or hinder this chassis? The tire maybe better suited to the oil shock. But I agree the lunch box tire will look proper as the chassis is so tall
@AddamsPlayground11 ай бұрын
I know when I put the oil shocks on my lunch box I was not a big fan of it as it smoothed it out and mellowed it down a little too much. I think they are needed on this on with the rock hard tires on it. The lunch box tires are what normally give it 50% the suspension but these tires have no give to them hardly at all so the shocks are going to have to do 99.5% of the work now! The first release of the Pajero with the small wheel and tires did not have the second lower level of the chassis the CW01 has so it was much more fitting. This taller version needs more tire to make it look proper. I will give it a fair shake as is but I am very confident the big tires are going to go on and stay on it!

I’d like to do one of these as a dodge raider

Yeah one with the 90s neon graphics and black paint would be really cool!

How many Pajero kits have Tamiya made? I'm looking for one I seen on an old Tamiya tv commercial
@AddamsPlaygroundАй бұрын
The original one from 1984 has the smaller Brat type wheels and that was kit #58044. They re-released it on the CW01 chassis with the bigger lunch box style tires and the original rally livery on kit #57831 in 2012. In 2023 they released it as a red version of the one on the CW01 chassis, kit #58727, but you could easily get the reproduction decals from MCI and make it into a replica of the 57831 version. The original was on its own chassis and you would have to find an original kit to do that one. There are several others that had the Pajero body on it, most were on the CC01 chassis and have the more modern, rounder body design to them.

I think once it is all painted and assembled the body is going to look great! Still not 100% sold on the tires but I am going to give them a fair try!

Not a fan of red or the lunch box but still a quick lil build good work as usual
@AddamsPlayground11 ай бұрын
I preferred the original white Pajero with the Dakar livery on it. I think once the details are all painted on there it will look a lot better. It does hurt a little to hear you don't love the Lunchies! I understand though, there are ones that are huge fan favorites that i don't care much for at all. Glad you enjoyed the video though, take care my friend!

I didn’t realize these were a cw01 chassis
@AddamsPlayground11 ай бұрын
Yeah the newer one are, the original had its own chassis whish is very similar to the CW01 upper tub by itself. Basically the same but I think the fender areas where the shock shaft go through was a bit different but very similar.

Yeah that is a bit of a disappointment on those tires. I do like the look of them though.
@AddamsPlayground11 ай бұрын
The tires have a decent look to them, they are just hard as a rock! It may surprise me when I take it out on the stock set up but I have a feeling it won't. I will give the stock ones a fair trial though, so far it is not looking too good for them though! LOL!

They are not boring at all, I am enjoying your rebuild! I need to do some rebuilds of my own but the new shiny ones keep distracting me!! LOL!

Are those tires worse than the ones that come with the Ford Bronco kit?
@AddamsPlayground11 ай бұрын
They are the same bricks that cam on the Bronco! I think they will make good course markers when I change the track up and can run rally cars out there!
@canuckchuck883611 ай бұрын
@@AddamsPlayground Those tires are brutal! Course markers or hockey pucks...either way, the ARE pretty bad.

So it has new bright tires lol
@AddamsPlayground11 ай бұрын
Maybe, I think the New Bright trucks I have driven had slightly softer feel to them! LOL! I don't understand why they chose these for it. Good thing is they will never wear out!
@kashmurray119911 ай бұрын
Yep. Not a fan of those tires either. Lunch box tires all the way. Well, I like the chrome ones better off the Wild Willy.
@AddamsPlayground11 ай бұрын
They look too small for me, plus these tires are the hardest compound tire they have ever made, my Grand Hauler tires have more side wall flex I think! LOL! The chrome wheels would probably look great one here. I found the Big white ones for super cheap a while back so I already had those on hand.

Lunchbox wheels on this car looks way off
@AddamsPlayground7 ай бұрын
If it were the original chassis then the smaller wheels and tires fit it well. With the taller CW01 chassis those looked comically small and made it look kind of sickly and sad. I get the big monster truck tires don't really scream Pajero but overall I feel they fit the chassis much better and give it a much wider stance to not roll over all the time. It is just a personal preference and if it is going to look silly I would prefer the haha silly over the sickly silly.

Tyco rc.... lmao😂
@AddamsPlayground11 ай бұрын
Are you saying it looks like a Tyco RC? I guess it does have the odd proportions to make it look a bit more toy store like. I am hoping to help that out with the bigger tires for it.
