Other than that we are off out tomorrow to celebrate Saran's birthday which was on Thursday and then seeing the family for a meal on Sunday. Are you up to much? Me and Ric had a good run with the Yeti and his FTX Outlaw which is very similar. We took some footage which will be on my channel at some point. Next project for me will be the TT-02 to put my Datsun shell on. Anyway, must go and feed that cat so I can have a Friday beer ! Laters mate :-)

As for the Alpine...well, words fail me. It´s so shapely and well proportioned, and to see it drifting like that really is a joy. I have to confess that I´ve watched this video twice, back to back, and will be revisiting it in the future. Congratulations! I liked the music, too : )

@@thecontractor365 Ha ha - I think some TV executives must realise how good home-made content can be but they´re not in direct competition as TV appeals to the mass entertainment market and can´t afford to produce such narrow-niche content as this superb vid. One thing that bugs me about the way RC cars are depicted on TV is the patronising air often adopted towards the cars and those of us who drive them. And my blood boils when a piece on RC cars on telly ends with a full-size vehicle running the poor RC over. It´s lazy, it´s unimaginative and it´s pretty much intrinsically offensive to any RC lover who has the misfortune to be watching!
@thecontractor3655 жыл бұрын
@@Del350K4 I've also detected the condescending air that mainstream TV adopts toward RC cars. They behave as if they're toys and their drivers idiots. They might want to try building a kit and tackling a lexan bodyshell as building an RC car is such multi-disciplined affair - from the meccano-like chassis to the electrics, finishing with the aesthetic of the body shell and finally they should take to KZbin and become a videographer to produce excellent videos like this. They'd think twice about patronising us then.

Seriously Mark you've captured some awesome moments on this video - absolutely brilliant ! Admittedly I've seen a lot of them before, but I don't mind a bit watching them again, in fact I'll watch it again after this comment ( and again tonight with a JD...😀. ) You really have a great knack of filming 'speed' well - something we really struggle with. We'll just have to keep working on it. My favourite top 3 cars in this video would have to be....the Mitsubishi Lancer Dakar, the Renault Alpine and of course the Escort MK1. Top stuff mate I really enjoyed that...😀👍👍.
@thecontractor3655 жыл бұрын
Meant to mention Mark that that was so well edited together - never a dull moment. It was brilliant. You just need a third Mini and a song that goes something like......'We are the self preservation society.' Filmed in Turin...😜👍.
@MarkBryanRC5 жыл бұрын
Now it's me that is blown away by your comments, Cosmo! As for the speed shots, basically you need a lot of sun and a camera with a good frame rate (over 90fps, 120 if possible) site the camera as low to the ground as possible and drive by as close as you dare! Overall, the light is the most important thing, always try and keep the sun behind the camera and in low light it's a waste of time trying. Sorry, you probably know all this, just saying dude! :) It generally takes us 5 minutes of driving past the camera to get just one, 2 second clip! The rest of the footage is ditched. OH! And I totally agree about the 3rd Mini - I have thought about doing that a lot of times! Yeah, That music would almost be worth getting a copyright strike for!!! Hi Nick! Woah, that's a hard one to answer, I honestly love them all. But if I had to pick one and lose all the rest, I would have to say the TA-01/2 Subaru because I have had the chassis since 1986, and it still performs so well today, excellent ground clearance and shock travel, and so easy to drift on the loose stuff! @MarkBryanRC4 жыл бұрын
Oh no! A 1/12 RC car is gonna be hard to find, but check the wheelbase of the M05 tamiya, shorter than the standard TT02 / XV01 chassis - it's adjustable for length and you might get it to fit! The windows were fine on the Escort, it came complete with window masks and a sticker set. :)

@MarkBryanRC2 жыл бұрын
Hello and thank you for sharing your views with me. I'm very sorry to read that you feel that I actually try to damage my cars. Please allow me to tell you how I really feel about my Tamiya collection. All of my cars are personally built by me with great care and pride. They are also used as intended, i.e. in this video all the rally cars are used for rallying, usually in races with my son. Yes they are used hard and enjoyed to the full by us. They are also regularly cleaned and maintained to high standards. The Minis in this video are over 30 years old and still running fine, as are all of the cars in my collection. None of these cars were smashed to bits, in fact there were no breakages at all! If you race them you will inevitably have the odd crash! Yes we do try to make the running videos interesting to watch, by driving them as we always do when not on camera. Many of my videos are about building and maintaining these fantastic models. I hope you can find the time to watch some of those! I hope you have a great weekend. Mark
