Nice to see Americans are as interested in European trucks as we are about theirs. In the 80's, a couple of German companies had US Trucks for show purposes, which appeared on the album covers of german country bands. European trucks didn't have long noses or separate sleeper cabins the size of camper vans, and very few, if any, chrome ornaments. In Germany, and I guess all of Europe, long noses disappeared beginning with a set of rules restricting the overall length to 14m (which were later eased back to 18.5m). Bonnets survived for a while on trucks that were not pushing the length boundary like fire engines, military off-roaders or dump-trucks.

I WISH more People here in the US built an ran these amazing models.... I'm in Arizona, the Hell Hole of Hobby involvement. But if we did Truck Meets, like in the UK, Europe and Asia - with huge Gymnasium sized Layouts with Roads, Bridges, Businesses and ROAD CONSTRUCTION - I'd happily drive across the Country to go to them! I happily watched your Globe Liner series (slightly disappointed that you turned it into a Rat Rod - but it's YOUR TRUCK and your choice!)😎😉 I'm very interested in seeing what you do with this Scania!!

glad i found your vid, all this while i was being a noob and thinking this trucks came pre built and pre painted. no wonder there are so many unique ones out there. however, its very very very expensive in Asia where I live. cheapest tamiya scania is around $1000!

Scania R470 is equipped with a straight six-cylinder diesel engine, 12 liters, 470 hp at 1900 rpm and 2200 nm at 1100 rpm. In Europe, these trucks are used on long trips, and there is a bed behind the driver. Your model is a highline version, but there is also a smaller day cab, double cab or CrewCab such as European firetrucks, there is also a top-line version with much higher cab roof. But the real bad ass Scanian you can get, is the R620. A 16 liter V8, 620 hp at 1800 rpm and 3000Nm (2213ft / lb) @ 1000-1400rpm of torque, and a wonderful sound when they drive by. And R is the cab type, the number is horsepower.

The reason why it does not have a long hood on it is because in Europe there is a limit in length of tractor and trailer. so by haveing a shorter tractor you can have a longer trailer=cargo ☺

Hi thanks for watching. These tamiya kits are pretty straightforward and the instructions are clear and easy to understand. You can put one together with basic tools like a small Phillips screw driver. I'd say just get a kit and take your time. Electronics are sold separately but other than that the kit gives you most of what you need. These trucks need a 3 channel radio. Futaba makes a few reasonably priced units. Hope that helps.

If you still haven't tried one yet... The Globe Liner might still be the easiest of the Tamiya Semi Tractors to build. It also looks cool, and there's a BIG Aftermarket parts supply. You can really customize it!! 😉

The Servonaut is a good system... But in terms of options vs. value - Beier has it BEAT. Costs 30% less than comparable Servonaut, less than HALF of what a MFC-01 or -03 would cost.... And many, MANY more Sounds, Lighting options, Functions, to make your Truck do nearly ANYTHING you want!! Yo can even make it play Music, of your choice, up to two hours. The only real drawback of the Beier is, it may be the least user-friendly, and requires intermediate Computer Skill, as you NEED a Computer (NO Phone or Tablet) to program the device. However it's not difficult. Just a bit tedious.

The kit comes with a motor but you will need an esc and a 3 channel radio controller for it.
