Please activate the English subtitles if you don´t understand German.
I felt like doing a building review again, i made plenty of German tanks, aircrafts and soldiers already so i think an Italian tank could be nice for a change.
This old kit is quite nice, especially the additional parts Tamiya added to it really improve the model to modern standard.
This video mainly deals with one of my favourite techniques - the chipping with Maskol/Color Stop. A really fun and easy way to achieve cool chipping effects.
Give it a try, you won´t regret it!
The next part will deal with the detail painting, weathering and most likely with the finished model - we will see.
I don´t own the rights for the music in this video.
Music:
Intro: "Advancing under fire" from the game "Blitzkrieg"
Timelapse: "Menu music" from the game "Codname: Panzers - Phase one"
"Liberation of Gracemaria" from the game "Ace Combat 6"

And likewise I'm always quite excited when one of your videos show up in my box.. trouble is, they seldom do, thanks to KZbin.. but never mind that, sooner or later I always find out about them anyway!! :) It's Friday today (see, I'm always on top of the latest information!) but alas I still have to go to work.. and tomorrow too, so I'm going to treat myself to a quick modelling session in a minute! It's time to progress on that little Camel of mine... :) :)

i don´t have twitter or such stuff :) i checked the colour of the hatch, it is explicitly said in the instructions that it should be painted with the exterior colour. those big white areas would make this tank very easy to spot from recce aircrafts, the whole camo would be pointless. by the way, usually all hatches are pained with the exterior colour, just like we know it from german tanks for example.

I love how the interior turned out, very realistic. That being said, so did the exterior! I will have to try this method again as I have a couple of Japanese planes in the stash I want to show with extreme chipping. Humbrol's maskol dried too quick for my liking, but the people who do MicroSol and MicroSet also do a masking fluid and it remains liquid for some time so I'll give that a go. The only downside is it's murder to get off! Looking forward to part 2! :)

You don't always need a lot of stuff to make an interesting diorama, especially not in your very capable expert hands.. :) Will hopefully post a video later (it's rendering through the moviemaker as I write) with a summary of the year gone by and some plans for next year.. the latter obvioiusly subject to change of mind, as always when it comes to my modelling!! :) Now however I really need to try and get some sleep, it has not been easy today with the phone ringing and so on.. it's been busy!

Well, I have very little or no experience (that I know of) of RPM kits, but I'm not afraid of a challenge.. after all, I took on your PM Ta-154!!! :) My resin figure is not of a tanker but of a foot soldier (infantry), my thought was to do something related to the 1939 Polish campaign, perhaps..just a soldier running along the tankette, in a suitable diorama. We'll see.. The kit will be shipped from Poland so will take a while to come, the figure was bought in the UK, so should come sooner! :)

Joke or not, they are interesting modelling topics though, like you said.. and the Italians had some of the best and very sought after desert uniforms, that were used by the Germans and British alike as and when they could get their hands on some... if I remember correctly!? :) Whilst on the topic of small tanks, I have bought a RPM 1/35 Polish TK-SD Tankette kit on ebay, and I also ordered a resin figure of a Polish soldier from 1939 to go with it.. the figure cost me more than the tankette! :)

Yaaay.. a building review!!! :) :) And I have always had a liking for the Italian WWII stuff, even though it doesn't really show in my output of models.. but I have built the Italeri 1/72 'Sahariana' and I started another Italeri kit as well, of an AA gun and crew.. that build is on hold for now though! :) Fantastic work done already, quite looking forward to seeing the finished (I hope) model in Pt.2.. :) :)

indeed! i´m not sure about these RPM kits, i think they are doable. resin figures are very expensive but i think it pays off, they are really good! funny coincidence, i bought a resin figure of a hungarian tanker for my toldi tank recently, do we plan a similar project at the moment? :)

i personally think that those italian tanks were a bad joke, but they are very interesting subjects in the hobby, just because they look unusual and they are great for harsh weathering. i like the saharina and the autoblinda aswell, i might get one of these next year.
@HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling
@HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling 11 жыл бұрын
i would pick a different kit if possible. alan kits have some serious shortcomings with regard to historic accuracy and the kit itself is quite challenging aswell. it all depends on how "cheap" you can get the kit. i personally would not pay more than 20 for such a kit.
@HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling
@HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling 11 жыл бұрын
i don´t think so...i made the zvezda semovente (which is the same as the italeri one) and with regard to fitting accuracy and the tracks the tamiya one is by far better. apart from that the tamiya one has photo-etched parts and superior figures.

i think i use just enough glue, qdc uses a different one. it is all a matter of taste and i´m used to my way of working. i never thought about that acutally.

the segmented tracks are so much better than those dreadful rubber tracks, it is very easy to bring those old kits with few improvements to modern standard.

Nice work! I have a question, for example, if you had a sherman, you would paint with the same prime color (black) ?
@HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling
@HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling 8 жыл бұрын
yes indeed. i do that to equalize the surface of all materials the model is made out of. there is plastic, metal, rubber and what not. light paint like sand yellow does not behave well when applied directly, you can always see a colour difference between plastic and metal parts for example. so i prime everything black and it equals everything.
