Echoing a few others, I think the artwork is excellent. Very early 90s, very aesthetic, a really nice set of colours, offset with the grey shocks. I guess it's too late, but I'd love to see this or someone do the decal scheme in paint form. With a little metallic paint, it'd look super, super good. Another TRF look-a-like is ok...but like you said at the top, you've got a fair few of them already!

In my opinion, this is the best 2wd buggy Tamiya have ever made. Simple, everything works, and it drives very neutral. The TRF 201 is just a copy of an Associated buggy. ;) PS, you know how much I love Tamiya RCs, but as a person who raced for 25 years, I'd never touch ANY Tamiya to go racing with (outside an all Tamiya class).

Have you considered 58477 zahhak, it is to the trf201 what the astute is to a Dyna storm essentially. Driving quality of the zahhak is basically identical to TRF201. Add the slipper and aeration damper set and it’s a solid rig for slippery tracks and general bashing. I believe Tamiya recently did another manufacturing run on zahhak as they are everywhere in every hobby store near me at the moment.

I look at my projects in the same way mate, I must be strange to hahahah! Personally I like the astute, I like the stance of the car, low and squat. One issue the original had was an over flexible chassis, i'd be interested to see if they corrected it on the super astute???

Oh interesting I didn’t know that about the original car, I’m actually going full carbon on this now, so that should fix that issue 😊👊🏻
@originalrcfun73684 жыл бұрын
For me it is either full vintage og full race spec. My curent runners being a AE B6d Club racer and a XXX BK2 with Novak system in it. The super Astute falls right between those two categories. So it has never been my taste. It is probably too modern with all the carbon stuff going on to be vintage, and at the same time I do not get that race feeling. But! There is a but. With the right paint it might be interesting, and I have to work with my feelings, and peak out of the comfort box. I'm thinking about painting it in the same colors as my two others to join the team. black or dark gray with metal flakes with orange window markings and the provided stickers.
