People always ask if they go fast n is it petrol n when u say NO it's electric.... then the look of shock is brilliant every time. G'day, Glenn! I agree, what an epic project! Really enjoyed the video! I am looking forward to seeing your Tamiya TA-05R, Speed Run Car - Project!! By the way... You have inspired me to start building a Tamiya shaft-driven TB-03 VDS chassis, comes with a 2.5mm thick carbon lower deck, aluminum gearbox braces to hold front/rear gearboxes, and Tamiya's very distinctive aluminum center brace to provide rigidity for chassis pitch. The Body will be Tamiya’s 58645 - 'Subaru WRX STI’ NBR Challenge! In addition, when I was looking at TamiyaData, and Tamiya dot Com... TRF Series no.24, High Performance Motor Transpeed Brushless 3.5T, Item No: 42124 with Adjustable Timing, Rebuildable... Normal voltage: 4.8 - 7.2 V, RPM: 72,000 rpm at no load / 7.2V, KV: 10,000 rpm at 1V, Power: 698 W, and the Efficiency: 0.89!! I'll simply say... very Impressive! (High Performance Speed Motor) Thank you very much! Cheers! 🏎✌🏼❤️

That's a lovely car Glenn. Really looking forward to this project. I've never really been into the speed run cars either, but that's generally when it involves ridiculous amounts of money and modifications that most people can't financially obtain or don't have the skills to fabricate. But this particular project really interests me because it's realistically inclusive. I'm confident you'll hit the 70mph ☺
@TAMIYALegends4 жыл бұрын
Eddie Bottoms Thanks Eddie, yes it has to be affordable otherwise I wouldn’t do it. Wether I’ll take it all the way through to a silly brushless motor remains to be seen, but with the stuff I have already it should be pretty cool 🤩👊🏻
@skagerstrom4 жыл бұрын
If you're going to go really quick I think you need foams. As in foam wheels. Normal unbelted rubber wheels will probably baloon and make the car a bit... tricky.. to drive :P Don't take my word on it but don't be surprised if it becomes an issue! It's gonna be a sweet car! :P
@TAMIYALegends4 жыл бұрын
Roger Skagerström Thanks Roger, yes I’ll be changing to foams once the speed starts to build with the quicker motors 🚗💨💨 Thanks for watching my friend 👊🏻

@Elios00004 жыл бұрын
a wing that small wont do much you need more surface area or look more in to ground effect a better front and rear defuser will do more then that little wing. also you would want to wing to be connected do the tube or its just going to be drag and deform the body shell
@TAMIYALegends4 жыл бұрын
Elios0000 Great points my friend, I’m guessing as the speeds go up, I’ll have to change the shell and also go to foams tyres. But I’ll stick with this set up until that time comes. Thanks for watching buddy 😊👊🏻

The more rigid the chassis better chance to reaching higher top speeds. And better handing.

@rcdan4 жыл бұрын
Looking forward to the outcome, Glenn. IMO the TA05 is clearly the best affordable touring chassis, especially for high speeds🤩 Personally never had any issues and way better than my TA06. My TA06 just won't run a straight line: trimm it straight at low speed, it'll curve at high speed... Trimm it at high speed and it will curve at low speed 🤯🔫

Hi, fun video. The front one way won’t be good for speed runs, for one thing you will only have rear brakes. As for the Tamiya 3.5t motor it has a real high KV rating, my Tekin redline 4.5t motor is 9350kv & can’t run on 3s, it’s a 2s 7.4v motor. To get the most out of your 5900kv motor (check first if that motor is rated for 3s, some are not) you should run a 120amp esc. Or what I run on my TC4 factory team is the Castle MMP & 1406 5700kv motor, I’m achieving 110kph probably if I fit a larger pinion I could get ever higher top end speed, of course keeping an eye on motor temperature. Also I’ve had better luck with foam tires for high speed runs, no centrifugal ballooning. Cheers

Might wanna upgrade the rear diff to a gear diff (#54312), maybe even with #54311 and #54428 if you're planning to put crazy power into it. With a 37T diff in the rear and a 36T in the front it's probably hard on the tires but should drive like on rails. Has anyone ever tried putting different ratios on front and rear?

About the Transpeed - If it's this one ( www.1999.co.jp/itbig09/10099928a_m.jpg )... That's a rebranded Nosram Pure Evoultion. And that I think is based on a Reedy design. Really old motors. Got a 4.5T Octawind on sale here in Sweden for around 35 euro. I have a Hobbywing BL120 and it's undriveable xD Need new wheels and stuff. I know that you want the Tamiya branded stuff. But .. Yeah just so you know. As I said they are really old. Bought them from a store run by the Swedish importer that had Reedy back then. Not sure if Nosram is a thing over the pond, but if you keep an eye out you might find one :P
