Nice job on the video and thanks for sharing! I raced a Frog as a kid at our local RC dirt track around 1988. I modified it with an electronic speed controller and removed the receiver's 4 AA battery pack for weight savings, so it ran all electronics off the main battery. I swapped in a new motor - I can't recall the brand, but probably a Trinity something-or-other. I couldn't afford the good matched cell battery packs, but damn those were awesome. The stock steering arms were weak so you had to beef those up (i crashed a lot in the beginning lol). That thing was quick, and I was beating all but the quickest RC-10s in my division. I did get an RC-10 later, and can say while that car is AWESOME, the Frog overall was more precision-engineered and funner to drive

Hi there! Thanks for your great comment. Like to read about personal experiences back in the days 🙂! And yes, it was sometimes tricky not to get damaged specific parts on those models...but sure, as you say, well engineered (with maybe unecessary details) and great fun and educational anyway... Best regards & glad you liked 🙂

What is freaking me out is that is how I painted my Frog in the 80s, with green highlights instead of pink like on the box. Brings back memories watching this. I never got to drive it off road as such as a kid, I was limited to the quiet street outside my house. Awesome footage. This was how the Frog was suppose to be driven.

Great comment, thank you, much appreciated! And true, as kids, in the 80ies, we were pretty limited with our driving spots, me as well.... so these days it might "pay back" a bit... 🙂 Glad you enjoyed 🙂 ! best regards

Nice vid. As I watched I found myself forgetting that it was a remake of the original commercial. Really amazing how well the front suspension works considering it's just one spring inside the frame and no oil damping. This was my first Tamiya in 1985 so I have a soft spot for it. Mine had the usual gearbox problems so I eventually sold it and got a Hotshot. If I knew back then how to mod the gearbox so the diff wouldn't destroy itself I would have kept it I'm sure. That was the only thing I could say bad about it but it was a big problem. There is a fairly easy mod to strengthen it and I'm going to do it on a re-release Frog. The good times are back baby! And this time I got "THE GUTS" so bring on "THE GLORY!" >>>>>>>and yes I haven't grown up yet. :D

I loved my Frog. Really loved the rear suspension, but completely hated the front torsion bar suspension. I tried everything, and it was just impossible to keep that thing running in a straight line on a track with ruts. I then used it for bashing, and bought an Associated RC 10 that I still have to this day. It's an original A stamped gold pan. Everyone switched to those when they came out. Just a far superior racing buggy at the track.
@Tamor704 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks for your great comment, much appreciated! And yes, now that you mentioned, the front is truly a bit a "shaky mechanism"... At the time, back in the 80es, we had the Subaru Brat which introduced this chassis type. With the Brat and its bigger front tyres we didn't really recognize this "deficit", and we didn't do any competition racing though. On the SRB's (Rough Rider etc.) JUST THE PART for the STEERING ROD it was similar, on the later Super Champ (I owned and still own) they changed to fully metal parts. But with "consumption" not really better. Back then, it was "all new territory" in RC.... ! :-) Best regards

So we see how far electric vehicles come today. What are they going to be like in another 40+ years I wonder? I imagine they will be able to drive as fast as they can now, but then literally transform into a plane that can fly. Or even turn into a boat with the flick of a button on the transmitter. Crazy days ahead folks. I had the grasshopper, hornet and then graduated to the RC10 gold pan. Thanks Dad for buying me that one. It was very special.

So many nice shots in this edit! How do you compress video data for up loading to youtube? With encording program bundled in video editing software like Apple - Final Cut Pro X or Adobe - Premier, or other encording software? Please tell me. Sorry for my bad english.

glideon thevibes Hi there! Sorry for my delayed answer. Actual, for KZbin Clips I simply use the mp4-format as output from any editing software with 720 size only (instead of 1080). Hope that helps, best regards

Cracking video bud..hows it running have you had any gearbox issues? Thinking of picking one up
@Tamor706 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment! :-) And to your question, actually no, not any problems with the gearbox. The differential though is not always suitable on rough Terrain (I think it could be "blocked" somehow) - But in General, this kit is pretty much SOLID for running on appropiate Terrain and much fun :-), so recommendable ! Best regards
