Hello and good evening Mark. I've seen so many build videos of you and I have to say, it never gets boring. It's just amazing to watch a gorgeous RC Car being built piece by piece.The modification to increase the suspension travel or ground clearance was a great idea and shows very well, with which small " tricks" you can make improvements..I enjoyed every minute of your Video ,hope you are well and wish you a very nice Weekend ...For Rob too, of course .He did a great Camera Job.

Hello Harry and thank you so much for the wonderful comment. I'm very pleased that you enjoyed the build, and especially that you were not sent to sleep by it! Yes, it only took a few little alterations to create about 10mm more ground clearance, not a lot but it should make a big difference when running on the dirt. As always, I wish you a very happy and peaceful weekend too! :))

Loving this series. It’s very interesting how different the Type S build is to the regular TT02. I’ve never seen Tamiya have you drill out holes in parts before, that’s kinda odd! Great tips/mod for the suspension travel 👍
@MarkBryanRC
@MarkBryanRC 5 жыл бұрын
I am really pleased you like this series, Paul! Yes, as I was building the kit I too was surprised at just how much it differs from the stock TT02. And yes, drilling some of the parts - the XV01 is similar in that drilling is needed in the suspension parts. I don't know why! Cheers for the comment, I wish you a lovely weekend! :)

Hi Mark. Very interesting to see all the differences between this and the standard kit. I do like all the extra little bits and bobs. Think I shall get one of these. As discussed before it's no good for my Datsun body as you can't change the wheelbase. Unusual for the instructions to require you to drill through things. That mod with the suspension is different to the one I was talking about with the standard kit where there was a restriction at the gearbox end. Definitely a good move for a rally car. I do enjoy all the mechanical stuff much more than body painting and masking and all that. I've got a load of bodys to build up for various things. Lunchbox is done now so M06 next I think. Great video mate. Hope you're enjoying your weekend 😀

Thanks for the comment mate - much appreciated! Yes, the little hop-ups included really set this apart from the standard kit and I think it is a better buy at the price too. Never had to finish drilling a hole for Tamiya before, either - very strange! Yeah, dreading the bodywork mate - had a nightmare with the paint, but I think I just about got away with it! Good luck with all those bodies, at last you have a nice new workshop to do them in! My weekend is good, hope yours is too my friend - speak soon! :))

Happy building. Loved it. Uhh, takes some fiddling here and there. But looks like both you and Rob are enjoying yourselves :-) That Type S is looking good with the FRP and all the spacers tightening things up. Looks like there will be a lot less play in this than the standard Tamiya entry-level kits.

Thanks for the comment, Mikael - Yes there are certainly a few tricky bits, especially with my big sausage fingers! I always look forward to a Tamiya chassis build, very enjoyable, and with Rob's help it is always fun. The suspension parts are a good fit and have a good amount of adjustability, so I have a good feeling about this one - a little test on the dirt and grass without the body on proved it has potential, but the first run will be the real test. :-)

Red loctite is usually considered a more permanent lock. The blue is more for temporary purposes, where you change the parts occasionally. I think the red is more heat resistant as well. But don't quote me =) At 4:55 I have never seen a kit manual tell you to drill a hole through a part. That was very strange. I wonder why it wasn't molded that way.

Oy Mark and Rob!! 😎👊🍺🍺🍺🍺 The redesigned Suspension bits REALLY transform the basic TT-02 into something a lot more serious!!! Sorry I'm late. 😔 Somehow, I've GOT to get those revised bits. Like the trick you did to extend the Front Suspension Travel. Top Tip from the Midlands Boys!!! 👏👏👏👏 Back to the redesign, they've all but eliminated the SLOP in the front AND Rear Suspension. It's really got me excited to eventually get back to work on my TT-02!! I can't wait to see what/if the STEERING upgrades make as much difference... On mine anyway, Steering play is Bloody AWFUL. 💩😫😤😤 Cheers Mate! Carmine 🚂 🚙

Hey Carmine! Cheers for the nice comment dude - yeah, this kit feels more like as TT02 really should! The carbon reinforced suspension parts are a real bonus and should help with the handling, being a much tighter fit than the standard parts. Nice work Mark! Great looking chassis. The steering knuckle is not from the standard XV-01 because you don't hold the hing pin with a grub screw. I guess it's from the XV-01 TC Pro.
@MarkBryanRC
@MarkBryanRC 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much, Charlie! Yeah, you are right about the steering knuckles and hubs, the standard XV01 parts are pivoted on a bar with no flat in the middle, that is held in place by a screw at one end, and not a grub screw in the middle. Hi Mark! Loving EVERY single build series you've done. You and Rob are great. Quick question about drilling that hole. Does Tamiya provide any sort of manual drill in the kit or would I need to purchase one myself?
@MarkBryanRC
@MarkBryanRC 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Daniel - I really appreciate those kind words. The kit doesn't come with any drills, you will need to get one I'm afraid. If you have a reamer, you might be able to use that, or a screwdriver with a small tip could be used to bore the hole, it's only a couple of mm of plastic. Good luck - I'm sure you will find a solution. All the best from Mark.... :)

The suspension components all came as standard with the Type-S kit. I live in the UK so I have no idea where you can get them separately outside of the UK. Hey Mark, when you drilled the 2.5mm holes in the F1 and F2 parts, did you drill through to the other side? Just wondering how far to drill into the part? Cheers!! 👍 EDIT: I just looked a little further ahead and saw that OF COURSE you need to drill all the way through, since it’s for going into the C parts (I am looking at the manual online, not got the kit yet!). Ha ha! Actually that’s not right, either. It’s for the little grub screws further down the step. I guess the question still remains then, did you drill all the way through? 🤔 Got it now, sorry for that, it must of made for confusing reading 😂 I see now the grub screw is used to sit against the flat part of the shaft. I did wonder what the little grub screw was for, now I know! Anyway, thanks, the video helped demonstrate how it all goes together!
@MarkBryanRC
@MarkBryanRC 5 жыл бұрын
Hehe Paul! Yeah, you had me confused for a while there! I remember the step you are talking about, only have I had to drill a component on this and the XV01 build! I don't think it would matter if you drilled all the way through, as the steel shaft would stop the screw going any further, but I only drilled half way. Good luck with yours when it comes mate - and have a great weekend! :)

Cheers, mate. Hmm, not tried a 200mm shell on it, but the track (width) is only 180mm to the outside of the wheels. You could use the wider wheel adaptors (2 come with the kit) but then you'd need longer wheel axles. I have seen some +4 and +5 offset wheels that might do the trick. All the best! :)
