2 years after you make these, I find them as I have just received a TT02 type s and waiting on the RS500 shell before making it. Some tips in these videos I am glad I saw before doing mine or I would have made a right mess of it haha. I'll be keeping mine road / carpet use though.

Hey Mark on the thing with the green slime I tend to put a a small ring bead before each oring. So you put some around the walls then put your first oring and put another small barrier on each layer. The point is to have That green slime as a barrier in between the rings and sealing up that cylinder. Even after the second oring just rub a little on to seal it off. Then I usually use something for a push rod and push the green slime In the center of the oring out where the rod end comes out then wipe the green slime before I pull it out. If that made any sense lol.
@MarkBryanRC

Thanks so much for the detailed advice, Chris! Sounds like a lot of sense, the way you describe using the green slime. Yes, it all makes perfect sense to me, I appreciate you taking the time to type it up for me, it will be helpful to anyone else reading too! All the best my friend. :)

@@MarkBryanRC No problem Mark!! These videos helped me alot as I'm building my first ever tamiya and kit! A tt02r. I'm loving it! Im not done with this one and thinking of what tamiya kit is next lol. But yeah sorry for the long winded text lol. It was hard to explain but yeah just a little layer in between each ring to act as a barrier. The green slime works really great. Never had a issue with leaks on my shocks. I subbed you buddy! Great videos detailing your build! It helped me on a couple parts. Very professionally done! I subbed!

Hoy Mates!! Sorry I'm late. Thanks for the shout-out! 😊 I SWEAR by Green Slime. Many others do too! I'd use just a little more, especially between the O-Rings, to act almost like a "pack". You CAN'T use too much! It's impossible. It will just spit out whatever is too much. I prefer to err on the side of too much. Also, wipe some on the Shafts before installing. It even helps prevent Ring tearing when pushing the Shafts through (opportunity for double entendre Bonanza!!! 😛😀). OK, I've just started. Back to Video! Carmine 🚂 🚙

Great stuff mate. I had a couple of those gold springs on my M06 and they seem a bit firm for off road. Yes those standard kit 'shocks' are shockingly (pun intended) rubbish. People do refer to them as friction shocks but like you say they are just pogo sticks. I would say that friction shocks are the ones with rubber tube inside. I do like that servo saver compared to the standard one you get. Certainly looks like you get your moneys worth with the S kit. I'd have thought you'll have probs not glueing the tyres on. I give the RC's a hard time and always glue the tyres on to within an inch of their lives! Anyway, hope you've got a nice weekend lined up. I've already managed a trip to the microbrewery for a few and also got a 5 litre container to take home so all is well. Ran the new Lunchbox on the beach on thurs with Ric and it was really good fun. Broke my DT-02 doing a 30mph + jump :-( Forgot the GoPro so need to go back to get some shots for my Lunchbox review (or could use clips of the old one). ttfn mate :-)
@MarkBryanRC
@MarkBryanRC 5 жыл бұрын
Cheers Pete! Yes, the springs do feel a little firm, matron - but the suspension overall feels quite compliant, so we'll give it a go, I have a big box of spare shock parts to raid if it's too stiff! Agree about those frictionless shocks - the rubber tube ones were so much better, my Konghead seems to run OK on them. I think you are correct about the tyre glue, the standard rally blocks on my Lancia are not glued and have stayed on, but these Chinese copies are much softer and came off on a little test run on the drive! Great weekend so far thanks, my daughter is home from Uni again and it's great to catch up, off to visit Lou's mum and back for curry and beer! Sounds like you got the beer front sorted! Forgot the gopro? Sounds like one of my tricks! Anyway mate - thanks for the message and you have a smashing weekend too. :))

Hi mate I have been watching over your build I am new to the rc game I have a tt02 delta which I finished building today when I turn my wheels they don’t re centre and also seems very slow building up speed like somethings holding it back only thing i could think off is I may have fitted the plate backwards with the numbers on by accident any tips and advice sorry for the stupid question I am a complete novice at this thanks max
@MarkBryanRC
@MarkBryanRC 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Max - no worries mate! Hmmm, sounds like a couple of issues here. As for the steering, disconnect the steering from the servo and check that it centres properly on it's own. If it doesn't. then the servo is faulty. If it does, check that the servo saver is working and that all the links move freely - if any of the joints are stiff you need to loosen them. The slow acceleration is strange. If you used the wrong side / numbers on the motor mount, the pinion and spur gear would not mesh properly, so I doubt it is that, but worth re-checking anyway. Again, it sounds like something is binding/ too tight, disconnect (remove) the motor and see if the car rolls freely and smoothly. If it doesn't you need to start checking all the rotating parts, nothing should be tight. Sorry I can't be more specific, it's hard to tell when I can't see the car! Hope this helps, all the best from Mark! :)

Nice car Mark. I have just finished a TT02 build with a few hop ups. Have you had any issues with the car veering off to the left or right under full throttle in a straight line. I think it is a torque steer issue. I am running pretty high gear ratio of 4.7 with 17.5T motor. Maybe I need to drop the gear ratio a bit as this may reduce the torque
@MarkBryanRC
@MarkBryanRC 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ian - you know, I've heard a lot of others say the same thing about torque steer, but I've never noticed on my TT-02's. Maybe it's because I don't have a powerful setup, but the Sport Tuned is pretty fast with a LiPo and that's OK. My TT02B has a 13.5 brushless and runs true. IDK my friend, very odd - let me know if it improves with lower gearing - I'm intrigued! :)

Hello, Marco. Yes, I checked on eBay and you can but almost all of the hop-up suspension and steering parts that come with the Type-S, separately. However, they are very expensive. Hi Chris. Hmm - not sure if the TT02R comes with a High Torque servo saver. Does yours have the same black servo plastic parts? Or does it have the standard type with the thick plastic "C-shaped" part that goes in the middle of the saver, where the metal rings go in my kit? I can't think that the kit would be missing any parts, that would be very unlike Tamiya!

Thanks very much! Well, it wasn't too difficult. I did make a few mistakes off-camera, but they are easily put right when you realise that something doesn't fit like it should. I would say that a novice could do this build if they are confident with a screwdriver and follow the manual carefully. It's a great challenge and rewarding to do, and as I said, any mistakes can be put right with the mechanical parts, just a matter of disassembly and starting again.. Messing up a body shell is a bit more difficult to rectify though! All the best from Mark... :-)

what does the beeping noise at 21:15 mean? my tt02 had it and the motor wouldnt start (steering is responsive tho)

Hi. The beep is the TBLE02 ESC startup - it beeps to tell you the configuration i.e whether it's set up for brushed or brushless motor. If your motor wouldn't start, it's most likely that you need to set it for the motor type you have. It's a bit fiddly, but follow the instructions and you should be OK. I hope this helps. :)

19:06 I’m having trouble with this step, with my base standard tt02. The bearing just simply won’t go in.

Hello - the step you are referring to is fitting the bearing into the outside of the C-hub wheel carrier? The part on the standard TT02 is different to the one on the Type -S but it should still slide in with no resistance. Have you measured the outer diameter of the bearing and the diameter of the recess? It could be that you have been supplied with the incorrect bearings. Did the bearings for the inside of the hub go in OK? They should be the same bearings. Good luck with it! :)

I think the shock get to hard for rally with the 1 hole pistons. I would do 3 front and 2 back.... Becauae thats less bouncy offroad..

Thanks for the great comment, Andreas! I agree, it seems that less damping might be good for off road, but after trying it, I think it handles really good on the rough terrain - maybe I could fine tune a little, but if you watch the running videos, you will see it glides well over the surface! Thank you for watching my friend! :)

Thanks for the advice, Dean - Yeah, I think I was a bit stingy with the slime, but I was using Rob's bottle so didn't want to be too greedy! Thanks for watching and I wish you a very good weekend. :))

@@MarkBryanRC I 7se that stuff on any oil filled shock I have no mater what brand it protects the o-rings from tearing as the threads of the shaft goes through it also helps to prevent oil leaks. Good stuff. If you have a ball diff I suggest Associated stealth diff lube. Silky smooth

why does tamiya use phillps head screws. that is a HUGE turnoff. seems so cheap. like back in the 1990s. tamiya is obsolite.

Thanks for the comment. I agree that I also prefer cap screws to the the JIS screws supplied by Tamiya. It is only a small detail though, and at least the screws are of good quality and made of hard steel. But I don't think Tamiya is obsolete - they are still selling many kits and have a huge following in the RC community. Horses for courses! :)
