Hi. I find it inspiring that you built the same aircraft your uncle flew in WWII (Weiß 6). Something about his personal insignia (a Senzenreiter) which highly intrigued me and other than the Tamiya kit above, Eduard has the same decal, although in 1/72 IMO. I'm looking forward to receivng the same kit from eBay. Thanks for the great video 🥰

What can I say, Jared?? Other than that it, without any doubt, is one of your best models yet, the personal connection making it even more special. War is always tragic, whichever side you fight on. This is a great tribute to a Luftwaffe pilot who did his duty and no doubt fought with honour..

@@dontknowyet3721 But the Nazis thought the Poles were sub-human, whereas Hitler still had respect for the English / British, considering them near equals.. so what happened in Poland was not so much double standards as the result of a very flawed ideology and deep rooted racism within the ruling Nazi party.

@@dontknowyet3721 Oh, I understand your point of view, but I also know the modeller who built this and I am quite confident that he would not have built this model, had the pilot in question been a war criminal. Just like not all who fought on the allied side were saints, not all in the German armed forces were the bad guys. Atrocities were made on both sides, heroic or merciful actions equally so. But it is always the winning side that gets to decide the history and it is in their interest to make themselves look good and the losing side bad.

This is one of the best videos I have watched about the Bf 109 and it was a great tribute to your uncle. I don't think many people understand some of the chivalrous acts of pilots that each side displayed toward one another. Yes, they were enemies and combatants and their job was to destroy one another. "A Higher Call" by Adam Makos tells the story of a Bf 109 pilot who accompanied a badly damaged B 17 bomber safely through enemy airspace to avoid being shot down by German artillery. Please keep posting your videos as they are a pleasure to watch and learn from.

I've only been scale modeling for a year. Before that I've been a fantasy miniature painter for 20 years. I don't have an airbrush set up yet but want one. How could I achieve that panel tonal variation brush painting. On miniatures you highlight by layering lighter and lighter shade in a decreasing area but that's on more of a 3d surface. Scale models are usually more of a flat surface.

Markings. White 6, II./JG77. Lt. Heinz Demes. KIA "on 30th April 1940 when his Me109E-3 0001537 of JG77 was shot down by a Wellington bomber of No.37 Sqn east of Stavanger". From what I glean, that RAF raid was a night op (e.g. 37 Squadron Wellingtons departed RAF Feltwell at 1740 LMT) conducted over the course of the hours of darkness of 30/04 - 01/05. Flying time of approximately 3 hours to Stavanger at the Wellington's cruising speed, unadjusted for (unknown) winds or climb to altitude with a heavy bomb load, so guesstimate. ETA circa 2040-2110 GMT not allowing for indirect routing other than a minor one for the IP. Sunset in Stavanger on 30 April is 21.28 LMT/20.28 GMT, so the Wellingtons were planned to arrive just after sunset in full darkness. IDK how dark it actually gets in Stavanger at its latitude at that time of the year or whether the hours of darkness there in Spring are like a perpetual twilight. Either way, inbound or outbound from the target, a Bf 109E-3 day fighter flying visual night interception ops? Ruhe in Frieden Volksgenosse.
