I don’t think the body positive movement was supposed to be about health. It was a movement so that fat people could learn to accept and love themselves as they are. Their purpose isn’t to promote obesity, it’s them saying they want to be treated equally. That’s my opinion anyway
@haniyab22373 жыл бұрын
Its actually a movement for people who have some kind of body differences, like one arm, vitiligo, yes a little fat, but mostly people who cant change how their body look, and the fat accepence group took it and claim it to promote obesity, because in my opnion they are too lazy to change their body.
@gabsbarbosa97663 жыл бұрын
I'm glad someone said that. We all have different bodies, some people can lose weight easily, others can't. I agree, but the whole "healthy at any size" nonsense has to be called out for the lie it is. Fat shaming is counterproductive but "healthy at all sizes" is a deadly lie.

Tammy is so unpleasant. Its not her weight it's her personality. I feel like she's getting worse and worse in the personality and attitude department. I'm pretty sure she's eating closer to 10k calories a day than 5k. She's not just fat, she's gaining. It's honestly not even her biggest problem though. Also, fat people are not a marginalized group. In order to be marginalized the situation has to be unchangeable. I can't change my skin, gender, sexual preference, ethnicity and what not. I can change the amount of fat held within my body. You can't be marginalized with a solvable situation. There is a distortion on what's actually normal in America. People mistake my healthy, athletic, muscular children for "emaciated" a lot. People will find out I'm between 80 and 90 pounds and still think I'm underweight, despite being 4'10" and a perfectly healthy weight. They get caught up in numbers too often. I mean an American small today held up to my clothes from when I was a teenager in the 90's is actually the size of a 1993 large. So the sizes are getting bigger and bigger and it further leads to the American weight perception distortion.

@TheKim3693 жыл бұрын
@@namelessgrace6319 Oh agreed, she has no control. As to binging, it means excesive indulgence, typically it's measured against the self, a big man could maybe easily drink a six pack of beer and barely feel it, while a tiny woman could be plastered after 3. So if the woman rarely drank, 4 might be a binge, but if the man had a 6 pack every day, he likely wouldn't likely pick out any particular day to call a binge. I've known binge drinkers who almost never drank, but when they did, they would knock back a whole bottle of vodka in one sitting. Binge eaters are typically people who seem to eat normally, but have these times where they eat tremendous amounts in rapid succession, and sometimes, will purge afterward. Called binge and purge. No matter really, somewhere she finds the time to do all that eating, somehow she gets all that food into the house when family isn't looking. She must eat a weeks worth of groceries every day, it's gotta be a challenge keeping herself fed.

And binges are EPISODIC, they eat normally during the day and then they have a binge episode Food addiction is just that: Addictoon to the dopamine hit our bodies give us when we eat. I gained a lot of weight after I had my twins who are now almost 5. During my pregnancy and after I acquired spinal damage and the pain caused me to not be able to get up and move around like I used to. I now weigh 250 pounds and I am absolutely miserable. My body hurts all over,my left leg swells horribly,I’m out of shape and struggle to do physical things I used to do. Sometimes even taking a shower hurts so bad that I choose to take a bath. Being fat is miserable. It hurts,it makes you feel insecure about everything,it makes you hate yourself,it makes you medically unwell,you can’t find clothes you like. Gaining weight has ruined my life. I worry I’m going to die young and I’m even struggling financially to the point where I can’t afford Christmas for my twins because I’m in so much pain I can’t work. The past two months I’ve changed my eating and have started making kale smoothies for meal replacements and have finally started loosing weight. I wouldn’t recommend a life of being fat to anyone.

Amy has gone above and beyond to be there for her sister. To be honest, sometimes we have to let those we love the most we love them and back away. At some point you have to decide if you’re going to save yourself. I was an overweight kid that went on to develop anorexia, spending eight years being out in and out of treatment centers and hospitals being force fed with a tube. My family, friends, and docs would do everything they could to make me accept recovery. In the end, I had to hit rock bottom before I realized I didn’t want to die or live this existence with my ED controlling my whole life. Waking up in the ICU was a slap in the face, things didn’t change over night, but each day I started to make the choice to live and fight for my recovery. I had to do it without expensive treatment centers because I maxed all those insurance days when I was just playing everyone, lying to protect my illness. Maybe they should give Tammy a dose of reality, she expects everyone to just take care of her, that’s not ok. She got up and walked when they went football bowling in some episode, and she cannot waddle to the mailbox? I have no sympathy for her whining about everything, Life beats us all up, and most of us don’t have a brother and sister who are going above and beyond to fight for your. I don’t want to see her die because she wouldn’t get it together and take care of herself, and that’s what is happening to her..

YES! Thank you for everything you said about the 'Body Positive Movement.' Of COURSE I would never condone being mean to fat people just because they're fat - that's bang out of order. But if someone has a preference to NOT date fat people, THAT'S OKAY. *They're allowed to have that preference.* NO-ONE is OBLIGED to date ANYONE who doesn't fit their 'preference,' because a 'preference' is NOT the same as 'discrimination.' Not convinced? Try it on this way - "If you have a preference for blondes, YOU ARE BEING BRUNETTIST! You are DISCRIMINATING against an ENTIRE MARGINALISED GROUP of people with dark hair! If a dark-haired person asks you out, you MUST date them - even if you prefer the blonde you're already talking to - because if you don't, YOU'RE A BIGOT!!" See? See how *spectacularly dumb and entitled* that sounds? At my heaviest, I was just over 200lbs (after my son was born,) and I hated it. I was tired all the time, I hated the way I looked and I had health conditions that were a result of being obese (I'm only 5'2, so 200lbs was A LOT for me to weigh.) It took me a long time and a lot of major diet changes to shift the weight, but I'm now 115lbs, and I've never been happier.

@Wargatron3 жыл бұрын
Not exactly. The body positive movement and the ideas against fatphobia are rooted in the idea that everyone, no matter what they look like or their health, are entitled to basic respect. Now, have people taken the phrases “fatphobic” and “body positivity” to mean “Because I’m fat, I’m suddenly a health expert.” Truly that’s an issue in itself but let’s not pretend like skinny people have it harder than fat people. Does that mean that because you’re skinny, you’re entitled to tell people who aren’t skinny that they’re disgusting, fat, gross, etc and that they’re not healthy? No. Weight doesn’t automatically mean overeating or not exercising enough. Many people have other conditions caused by a million different reasons and other people’s health is none of your business unless they allow it to be.
@JustAdam1233 жыл бұрын
@@Wargatron I am talking about the woman who literally compared fatphobia to being discriminated as a person of colour. That is way out of line. Being overweight/underweight is a mental health issue which can be solved, where as nobody can do anything about the colour of their skin and it shouldn't even matter what colour your skin is to begin with. Being a person of colour or having a certain sexual orientation doesn't kill you, being underweight/overweight does hence it being an actual issue that needs to be solved.
