I was a sculptor, also with oven baked clays, of course my sculps were slightly larger at 1/6 scale, mostly Marvel/DC. It took me a week to create one-of-a-kind art pieces. I tried to sell but couldn't find the audience willing to pay for my time. I progressed into cake decorating with modeling chocolate and have killed it in that area. Sometimes you have to tweak your talent to meet the needs of your audience. Thank you for showing me it could be done......

I, as a watcher, cannot stand trends so I don’t bother w them in any of my work. I don’t have a YT channel or anything, so Indont have to compete that way. I loved the vid, but be careful everyone. The "learn as you go" route can land you in a lot of hot water if you're not someone who keeps track of every single purchase/expense/sale, and even if your state has regulations against certain things. A lot of times you have to register your business name with your state or file certain forms to allow you to sell in person or online (and yes, selling in person vs online are two separate things with different forms). Please do your research before opening up your own personal finances to liability and the possibility of problems with the IRS when tax season is upon you and you have no clue what you're doing. This lady has a whole agency to help her so that might be why she brushed over it as a non-issue, but please please do the research in terms of legality and taxes because it only takes one irate customer to bankrupt you. Goodness forbid you sell a small item without any warnings, a kid chokes on it, and now you're open to being sued and are responsible for the harm caused. Call your state and local tax offices and ask questions if you can't find the answers you're looking for online!

I had the same thought. I have a small business and live in Germany. Without research, I would have a lot of legal problems. I also have to have a packaging license just to send out orders. Also, as a business, I am not allowed to use every trendy sound on Instagram as well. There was quite a lot of research I had to do. But it pays off. Now I can make art without worrying about any legal things since I took care of it in the beginning.

Your video was so calming and was like the reassurance I needed to just start, nomatter what stage you're at, without overcomplicating things. It was also so so nice to see your old videos, because it shows you don't need the 4k perfect lighting setup to begin, you can always get to that later if you want and "learn as you go"

Your standpoint of collaboration must make you a very successful artist all by itself. You are the first artist whom I have seen suggest working with another artist by submitting their portfolio. Most artists would never go that far during a vlog because (like me) they might feel bombarded or even scammed by others. Even though I have a separate business email for these sorts of things, I would never have the guts to tell people that they can submit their portfolio. Good for you! You are very brave.

tips: -start while you have stability, it takes time to build a brand or build up your quality and doing so when you are still in school or still working a corporate job means you have stability. any income earned from this period it just a bonus. -if your work is part of your passion (like art) it can quickly turn into burnout, try to do something in line with your work for fun, like make a clay sculpture from leftovers as a challenge in your free time. DON’T sell it. you need a clear boundary and this will set it for you. ❤

Mainly people who complain about your prices are simply trying to get you to lower them. The other portion are people who have no real intention to buy anyway. These people are not supportive of your success or prosperity. When they tell you they can buy items like yours more cheaply elsewhere, you can politely steer them to do so and that they can be happy they’ve found a bargain. Sometimes they try to hurt your feelings at this point , and when they inevitably tell you that won’t succeed they’ve told you what they really think of you. You lose nothing by refusing people who won’t pay you a fair price.

As someone with bad health (nausea and migraines daily) and anxiety, I've put off pursuing anything with art because I thought making art was only for people who could afford to as a hobby and not do it as an actual job. Only later did I realize so much of my fear stemmed from my fear of exposure, not knowing what to do business-wise, and thinking going to college will leave me poor on the street or working at a fast-food chain. So much of what I was told in school was just "do whatever makes you the most money" and not whatever makes you feel the most fulfilled in life. It depressed me for a while and recently, I've started clawing my way out of the big pit to finally start my art journey. Living in FL means I have to at least make enough money to afford a car (can't walk anywhere) and pay off the house when I get it, so the bar I'm setting for myself is already dream high. Thank you for your great advice and insight into the processes of a small art business! ❤️☺️ Your Maxine is adorable.

This entire video is just incredibly touching. As an introverted artist that longs to do something similar to what you do, you just gave me this indescribable feeling of hope that I thought I lost. Thank you, truly.

Hey, I never really comment but watching this made me cry, you’re a big part of why I created my Small business! But as of recently I have been in a sad state because I just opened my business and I have gotten 2 orders (one being my sister 😊) I’m really thankful but I don’t know why it isn’t doing better I put so much hard work into it, some sometimes it just makes me feel like I have nothing, people visit my website but no one buys, anyways you have been a good role model and your words have inspired me to not give up!!! Thank you so much 🫶🏽🫶🏽

OMG..!!!! Thank you so much... I was looking some tutorials or how to do videos and I came across this video... And because of this video and you, I found and bought the Artist's Way and everything is changed since then... I am taking my time trying do practices but after the book now I know what is my style is. I couldn't create my own ideas before, I was creating a collage inspired by references. Now I had a mini notebook of ideas which developed in 4-5 months. I am a 39-year-old person who specializes in a different profession but has always been in love with painting... You and the book save my love and live of Art... Thank you, thank you thank you so much 🥰🥰🥳🙏🙏🙏

I decided that I really wanna put myself and my art out there this year and hopefully start a small business. I just to make adorable, pretty, artsy things that bring people joy. It'll be hard to balance with a full time university degree but I think it's possible. Your videos really help with that.

I was actually using this video as a way of ‘research’ and I’ve always been very anxious when it comes to posting my art. This video really calmed my nerves and that fear went away a bit. Learning as we go on and really staying passionate with our work makes everything seem okay.

Your videos have inspired me so much over the past few months. I finally started my little shop on Etsy!! I want to make classic, cottagecore, and antique-inspired goodies. 💕 Unrelated but WHERE did you get your skirt? It's sooo cute!! Thanks for being an inspiration 🥰

thank you for your video. I'm a web dev, but an artist at heart. I have been looking at trends bc I want to start my own business and have been lost on where/how to start. What I took away from your video, don't look at trends, be the trend and focus on my art, and not other ppl's art. Thank you!

as great as your story sounds, its hard to believe this type of art is getting 13k a month. just cant imagine that many people buying these types of items consistently. but if true thats hopeful for artists

There’s an audience for everything but she’s also worked really hard and for years to create a strong brand to accompany her actual products. I think she also has an income breakdown video where she explains from how many sources her income comes from, apart from selling her clay figures. It is really inspiring because it helped me start my own business. I was like, this brand that seeks worked so hard to make and keep makes ME want to buy from her so I should focus on making my own strong brand
@strawberryfox881910 ай бұрын
Well, she sells those clay friends at an average of 50 euros, I'm not sure if she charges shipping. Dividing 13k through 50 makes about 260, so around that many people had to buy from her shop in a month. Given that she ships worldwide and has an audience of 200k, that number is small in comparison. So for someone of her following size, 200-300 a month is doable.

i know this isnt the only thing you do, just like the rest of those "how to make 200,000 k usd a month " utubers, its not a simple as you said in your video, be realistic please, this kind of income is unrealistic for an honest work, either you're doing something scammy or ur parents are rich lol.
@LAQueja10 ай бұрын
Maybe it is a trendy product she made. And she's just talking about 1 month. If you're looking for youtube videos for income ideas to be lazy and make bank get real. Just wish her luck🎉
