The shop's profit margin is high tho. Theoretically speaking, if she keeps expanding her product line and focusing more energy on products with high profit margin (and at the same high demand), her net profit will grow even higher. But I don't think she needs to do all that in the mean time, since she is aware of her social media presence and sponsorship income. We are humans after all, anyone can get severe burn out by focusing solely on income growth and it can be counterproductive in the long run. I can see that Tammy is doing very well with $60,000 net income from her shop (and undisclosed profit from her KZbin account and sponsorship), also I agree that she is living the dream.

I put my small business on the back burner for SO long. I opened in 2010 (18yrs old) and now (in my 30s) I’m breathing new life into my business but for the long run and hopefully I can steadily grow my own small community. Your channel has honestly gotten me through a lot this year and I am forever grateful to you. Much love! Enjoy your break ✨

@@00rosi2 start my business? I started on Etsy many years ago but decided I didn’t enjoy the platform. Once I left, I didn’t understand how social media could benefit my business as it was just facebook and the beginning of IG. Kept it local for a while but if you mean restarting now? I found a handful of successful businesses and kept a journal of their advice to slowly utilize in my own business tactics. I’m no where near being able to do this full time. I think that will come organically as I produce content. Best of luck on your art journey! ✨

I can’t stop grinning whenever a video of yours drops on KZbin & I cannot WAIT to have the honor of holding Strawberry Maxine in my arms. I took a long hiatus as an author because I am burnt out & thought wasn’t anyone peeping for me but my analytics when I drop a reel or a video says otherwise. The world is waiting for my comeback and I have amazing people I want to meet & collab with in this life one day, and yes you’re one of them. I truly look up to you & you show me what life can actually be versus what my scarcity mindset tells me to do or be, and that is worth its weight in gold. And yes everything about you is pure gold & I truly admire you and all you do. All of my love sis, I would love to interview you for my podcast show in 2025 & if not I’ll happily spam tf out of Strawberry Maxine when it drops. Thank you for the gift of you & your art 💖💖

I rarely like videos and I basically never comment, but you deserve this! I really truly appreciate you breaking down at least some of the financial side of your business. It's so helpful to see the real numbers and be able to gauge what is real vs what people are doing for show. Businesses can exist and make no money. People have different life circumstances to keep those businesses alive. As someone growing a completely different type of small business, this is information I'm always looking for and rarely get the transparency. I am grateful for you to be open to the scary internet for us viewers! I'm glad you pivoted to continue finding a sustainable way of building your brand. You got this, Keep pushing on!

I really loved the transparency in this video. It can be easy to glamorize small business life, so it becomes even more important to remind folks how much of the money made goes back into the business or expenses or TAXES. Like, yes it evens out or you wouldn't be doing it, but this is definitely not a get rich quick strategy. Congrats on an amazing year.

Thanks so much for being so transparent with gross versus net profits-a realistic portrait of actually running an art/handmade goods business is so much more encouraging and aspirational than the videos that clearly over-idealize the lifestyle (downplaying how much hard work actually goes into it all) and oversell cost versus rewards of being a small business owner. I’m so grateful to be able to build towards opening my own small business in the new year with realistic aspirations and lessons learned from your experiences 😊❤ congratulations on a great year, can’t wait to see more from you and your shop in the new year!

I've been sitting on the dream of switching from the corporate world to creating and selling my own art, probably for about 6 years now, and nothing has inspired me as much as the content you share about the struggles, the risks, the parameters, the benefits - all of it. Massively appreciative that you're so determined to share your knowledge and experience with others, and I'm really glad I found your channel (and binge-watched ALL of your videos in the span of 2 weeks :D ). Thank you for demystifying the small-art-business world - cannot wait to see where you take your work!

Hi Tammy! You've been such an inspiration to me this year as I started my own small art business! From your ups to your downs, seeing your journey along the way, especially seeing you take breaks when you needed it, has really helped me develop a healthier relationship with my business as a college student. I'm a digital arts and sciences major, so I develop video games and draw all of my game assets, so trying to find that balance between school and my business was hard, but I took a page from your book and put my business in the back burner for a few months. Now that I'm done with the semester, I just sold at my very first local community market and it went so well!! Basically, this is just a long winded way for me to say thank you so much for being my inspiration to start my business! I truly attribute a good chunk of my success to the skills I've learned from you and your business🥰🫶🏻

You always encourage me without knowing. I see you grew from each videos and that inspire me a lot. Now I have a baby and is living with my in law. That really inspire me to start my art career aside and one day step out of government sector. I am expecting that I will next year feeling anxious and exhausted because I have tried starting my art business 2 years ago, but I also know that I am more experienced now. I had rather tried again than being regretful i didnt start again. I wish you good health and more success in the years coming. Thank you so much for making me believe again. ❤

Always take a break for your mental health. When I do some projects I kinda cry too because I also have this mentality to do everything at once and not taking a break since it seems to be a waste of time, but I now realized how important breaks are. I don't have the same thoughts after I had a break and my body feels recharged that I feel positive on my project. When I didn't take a break, I felt that everything looks bad and I don't feel fine physically, I want to quit the project, but after taking a break I see things differently. So I really can relate to the first part of this video. I wish the best for your business and you really inspired me. I'm gonna try making some charms soon. I hope I can make it cute like your creations. I'm old and I just want to try out new things. Your videos are helping me to take my first step into polymer clay. Thanks for inspiring me. 🙂

I just had my first sale at a market this past weekend, and my goal for next year is to keep at it and set up an online store! You're rocking it girl keep it up!

Huge congrats on your accomplishments, Tammy! 🥳 You also inspired me to finally open my small business for miniatures this year. 😄❤I made a small collection for the fall and only made one sale, but I still cherish it so much. I was very discouraged at first, but your videos have been so motivating, and I seriously appreciate you sharing your business advice and reflections!

It’s nice to find someone who’s still early in their business success 🙂 very informative! I am in the stage just a little behind you. This year I hope to grow my business to make 100K gross income. I need to sit down and reevaluate some things to figure out the best path to grow to achieve that.

You've inspired so many artists worldwide! I always see people making things inspired by you. It's like you are the biggest guide! Thanks for being so amazing! You've inspired me too to open my first ever KZbin channel! I'm also a clay artist but I wish I had a specific art style or unique style like you 🌷

Hi Tammy! I've been following your journey since 2022. Thank you for being transparent as you are a big inspiration to many aspiring artists and aspiring small-business owners! I think for 2025, perhaps you can expand a new clay product line that involes the use of molds like the bunny pancake! It'll cut down time, provide affordable product options, and keep the product line consistent with what you are known for-ceramic! Otherwise, please take care of yourself and focus on sponsorships if you have to. Working 24/7 for 4 years while stressing out about the volatility of your business and the economy can only lead to intense burn-outs. Take care~ 🎄❄☃

For me, it’s been hard to determine, as a business, to pivot from homemade to self-designed. (The plushies.) I am concerned that undermines the core value of the items I sell…but of course it doesn’t! It’s just a mental block I invented for myself. Happy new year Tammy!!

Thank you for sharing Tammy!!I just starting out my art business recently thanks to the encouragement from all your videos. Realizing making something that you loved vs making smth you are good at is the hard truth I learned. I hope to grow as balancing myself from work as a self-employed artist.

I haven’t really played with clay much but I want too. I don’t have a lot of space I’m working with and want to create slightly bigger items before I challenge myself with smaller things. You’ve inspired me to keep trying though.

I’m glad you found the growth and system that works better for you. Here’s a thought for you since you said on Shopify you can see on the map who is viewing your shop. I’d take the highest average city location that buys/shops your products and make a limited edition clay figure that features that city. Like a Maxine in the Big Apple for NYC. Good luck in 2025.

[08:56 min] Where did you get the sales counter in the background? You’re doing an amazing job! You’ve accomplished so much-not only do you make everything yourself, but you also manage the entire logistics, maintain your Shopify channels, and create the content. There is so much work that goes into a KZbin video of this quality, and the effort really shows. This is the second video of yours that I've seen, and I really liked the first one: 'Watch me make & sell a new product in 5 hours ⏰ Small Business Diaries.' Please don’t call it burnout, though. Burnout is a serious condition that lasts longer than 8 weeks. If you're already feeling better and could keep working during that time, it's more likely that you're understandably overwhelmed by managing everything on your own, and your body might even be protecting you from a burnout. Recovering from burnout usually takes two to three years, and people can’t even do simple tasks like grocery shopping anymore. That’s what burnout really looks like.
