In 1934 John and Alan Lomax recorded a version by Sam Ballard in New Iberia La.
Most famously recorded by Ry Cooder on his "Paradise and Lunch" LP, 1974.

Masterful all around! Precise and tasty slide, extra little bumps in the fingerpicking, great vocal. Forgive me if my ear was looking for a II-V change instead of IV-V - but that's just me.

That's a mighty fine sounding performance! Well-done and thanks for sharing it with blues fans everywhere. Got to keep those old sounds alive... they just sound too good to leave alone.

@@jalex7689 It's an old railroad work song. The first known recorded version was 1933 from a Tennessee prison. I first heard Ry Cooder's version on Paradise and Lunch.
