The bridge is a very scenic drive since the suspension cables are located at the center of the bridge, giving you an unobstructed view of Tampa Bay and St. Petersburg.
The bridge began construction in 198 was completed in 1987 after the original bridge was destroyed in 1980 when a freighter crashed into it. The old bridge was turned into the world’s longest fishing pier.
