My male best friend gets a little embarrassed when I talk about periods but I know I can talk to him about it. And if I am having cramps he says aww I am so sorry. So not all men are awful just a lot of them lol. I love how bashful Braylee gets when you compliment her. It's so adorable. I love how she is such a tomboy but dresses femme too.

Seriously Shay and Casey? That's so immature and ignorant. There's a reason why we're conditioned to believe periods and other feminine bodily functions are so "revolting" and "disgusting": the lack of education and open communication about it. You're going to have to educate your daughters about it soon enough, and you're only fostering the taboo. If people talk about these subjects open and freely with their kids from a young age, kids, and young women specifically, won't grow up with the same shame and self-consciousness surrounding their bodies.

I agree, I was the oldest girl in my family, so obviously I was the first to get my period and my dad raised me so I didn't really know anything about it. All I knew is that I was embarrassed because my brother, and my younger sister always made fun of me when I had my period so I've always been ashamed to let people know I'm on my period. It's awful, guys will make fun of us for it when it's something we can't control. They think it's some kind of joke. And they always assume when we're mad that we are on our periods. Parents or even sex ed teachers need to educate boys more about girls having periods because it's so annoying when boys cringe at the word period, pads, or tampons. Yes I bleed out of my vagina once a month but I can't control it and guys just need to accept it.

And for the record, they inundate television with erection commercials and female vaginal lubricants for sexual intercourse, but I sure as heck don't feel it's appropriate to discuss with my 3 year old just because it's "normal". Oh and 12 year old's don't get pregnant when they're properly informed, they get pregnant when the only thing they're tought in school is "abstinence is the only way, no sex until marriage, its a sin and you'll go to hell blah blah blah" Let's hope your 3 year old gets the appropriate information about sex when the time is right and doesn't end up pregnant/or getting someone else pregnant because their dad was too uncomfortable to talk about the way the human body works :)
