You did speak in circles on the religion thing but props for trying to open up. I would classify LDS as a high demand/control group, but also each person lives their beliefs differently and some ppl do retain their autonomy/agency within these groups. And like you said, if you’re being loving and it’s making you better and you don’t expect others to people to live or believe like you do, then that’s a beautiful thing. I hope you’re staying inclusive and teaching your kids to be as empathetic and inclusive as you sound

I did not meet my husband until I was in my 30’s. We met on POF and we were *not* a match but he saw me in their “hot or not” feature and he thought I was pretty. My profile said “just say hi, I’ll talk to anyone!” So he just said hello. We instantly clicked (he was originally looking for a friend more than a girlfriend or wife). Come to find out we have so many missed connections, his brother dated my friends sister, his sister and my brothers best friend are friends, I wanted to go to a certain church but never did- his dad ended up being the pastor, he lived less than 10 minutes from me but in a different state, etc. I had stopped looking and let God have control. I met him a week later. Now here we are 12 years and 4 kids later.

Totally agree with you - about being your freaky self and finding people who like that about also, and also about being financially independ - you never know what happens in a relationship and personally, I need to feel secure and have some income and/or savings.

Carlie, I’ve really been enjoying these videos. Grew up watching your family and always almost viewed you as a silly big sister that I never had but always needed. Having these little advice sessions feels like that, which is nice. My question for you would be as the youngest sibling, I feel like my brothers don’t and never have made an effort to be my friend. The last year or two have been… really rough. Dad almost dying, parents divorcing, prepping to sell childhood home and Mom in a new relationship. I had hoped this situation would bring some sense of closeness and support with my siblings, but it’s almost like the relationship is the least of their worries.

Girl, don’t be scurred about talking about plastic surgery! There should be more conversation about it if anything to just help people make informed decisions instead of being hasty about doing a procedure or finding a surgeon without talking to anyone about it because they don’t want backlash. It shouldn’t be a taboo subject.

One drink isn't going to make the average person an alcoholic, please dont scare monger, the more you scare kids the more likely theyll do it behind your back and get up to much worse! I would much rather if they are going to do something they do it in the safety of my home and not at some house party or in a park somewhere. Being an approachable parent is far more valuable than being a preachy one. Though I appreciate you have been brought up in a very religious world.

This is everything I need to hear, especially the part about taking time for myself. I have 4 kids (10, 8,6 and 2) and my main goal in life was to be a mom and I love it all but now I’m realizing as they get older that I need to be me too outside of being a mom.

You are so right Carlie about alcohol! When I have kids, that’s the exact conversation I will have because alcoholism runs in my family as well. I love my parents, but I wish they had those conversations with us growing up and how we are rolling the dice when it comes to alcoholism if we choose to drink. Unfortunately, one of my siblings fell into alcoholism and it was such a devastating period for my family. I don’t wish it on anyone. However, they are sober now ❤

Been loving these Carlie. ❤ I've been debating asking this but here goes, do you have any advice in finding happiness or acceptance with where you're at? I'm going on 31 and have never been in a relationship, while all my friends are getting married and starting families. I've longed for a husband but wonder if it's not in God's plan for me. Sometimes I'm "okay" being single and other times struggle with it. If you have any advice or thoughts I'd love to hear it. Thanks friend. ☺

Love these videos! Wondering if you could talk about finances. As a single 20-something yr old I wonder what’s an ideal way of dealing with finances when married? A lot of women are looking for provider men who pay for a lot of things. How do you and Jax deal with finances? Is it naive of me to want to stay home and take off the house/children while my husband goes out to work.
@elleb7523

I don’t think it’s naive to think it’s possible to have a single income household. It will not be the same as a double earning household tho. You will have more time on your hands but less money.

Carlie, I love that idea of a women’s club to go dancing 💃🏼 🪩 or have their hair brushed…maybe a screaming room, LOL. I’m not a mom, but having a safe space to do those things sounds so lovely! Especially because going out just dancing has always been the right light for creeps…and it’s a scary place when some men don’t respect a woman’s choice to not dance or interact with them. (I hate that it’s a thing for woman to want to be alone in the woods with a bear than a random man.) Anyway. Loved the chat. I’d love to know what you do when in a stressful moment…how you manage and process those emotions. And it’s less than a month 7ntil our birthdays…June 5th! Wahoo! 🥳💖 Happy Tuesday! Much love to you.
