I know that for these lenses (F004) the clutch that couples the AF motor and/or manual focus ring to the focus mechanism often goes out of wack. Is it possible to have a video in the future showing how to disassemble the lens to the point of being able to clean/fix this mechanism?

Even though the videos from this channel are usually absolutely great, I would refrain from trying this. The front element is adjusted (centered) using a special tool, a collimator, and the screws are sealed with lacquer after. I don't think the mark is enough to get the lens back to its original position and I would even go so far to say repositioning is impossible to do at home with decent results. Image quality will suffer after putting the front lens element back without proper centering on a collimator. EDIT: Just to clarify for those who want to know more: This type of adjustment has nothing to do with the front lens adjustments of like the Canon 17-55mm 2.8 or the Canon 17-85mm. The position you mark there is the factory adjusted optimal position for division of autofocus movement across the zoom range. What I mean here is a centering adjustment. Compare the adjustment sections of the Nikon DX 17-55mm or Nikon Micro 105mm 2.8 repair manuals (available online) for the 1st lens group alignment to learn more.

With this lens, the front lens element can't be calibrated... it can't be twisted or turned like in case of most of the other lenses. I marked the front lens element to put back at the same place... there are three holes, so there are only three positions how the lens can be mounted, and I made sure that it is at the same place.

The Tamron 18-400mm lens is very different than the Tamron 90mm, so you can't use this video to do that.

Most likely the focus strip in the ultrasonic motor got dirty, and it needs to be cleaned. I would recommend to check my other videos about repairing that problem. I don't have a video specially for the 16-35mm lens, but generally, the USM motor is on the rear of the lens, it is very similar with other lenses to remove it, disassemble it and clean the focus strip.
