Had the same issue. Opened the lense, one of these were broken. I used the mechanism of a clicker pen which had the same diameter, cut it in the same thickness and it actually worked. The piece I cut was exactly the same as the original and the lens works! Before fixing the lens was making noise when shaken and the photos were blurry at the edges as the internal part was out of alignment. Now it is as new! Hope this helps someone!

Hello, i have a Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 canon G1, and i have a issue when i record video. The images " jumps" sometimes and I can hear the sound of aperture even though I don't change it, and also subjects appear with some red marks around them, like I'm manually focusing. This is what happens when the image jumps. Plus the recording sometimes stops when the images jumps. . What could be the problem? 🥺🤔

Hi, nice video Sir, I left my canon 70-200 f4 usm IS in a local repair guy to clean fungus, the front elements are now free of fungus but the rear elements still have visible fungus, I see from your video that the rear lens elements are housed in a black tube structure & it is this I need to access & clean glthe individual lenses myself, have you any tips?

This super-clear video gave me the confidence to tackle the hunting problem. I got a clean piece of cardboard and created ten large numbered squares to house the big parts. I had a large refrigerator magnet which I divided in the same way, this magnetically held all the screws. I took the same care as you did, cleaning and recleaning the focus strip both lengthwise and perpendicularly with 91% alcohol. I can attest that finding the right size Phillips screwdriver made of high-grade steel is essential. I attached a small powerful magnet to the screwdriver shaft and that made extracting the screws without dropping them easy. At minute 23:00 I could not extend the zoom. It felt locked. It took several tries to realize that my fingers were gripping the inner and outer parts of the cylinder. Finally, I gripped only the outer cylinder and it slid out perfectly. One more thing, my version of the lens did not have a sticker to peel halfway off. Earlier model? Thank you for a most excellent video. I'm going to send you a thank-you donation!

Tried the repair. Screws are glued with loctite somehow, maybe my second hand lens had already been repaired before ? In any case, I screwed up 2 threads of the usm motor. End of the story I think.

Hey man, first thx for all your videos, i started to learn how to fix and clean lenses and your videos helped me in all i need. How I'm a beginner, i am buying lenses with fungus or some problems. Recently i bought this 17-40 that the owner said it has no AF, but after cleaning worked fine like a new one (thx to your videos of disassembly). But i got some error, when focusing on subjects 3 feet away to the "infinity" seems like the lens doesn't have energy to do the focus. Now i stepped into this video and want to try it. Do you know that problem? (I'm a Brazilian, i think the word is 'the focus jiggle and doesn't go more') Thx again for all your work here ❤

Dear Camera and Lens Engineer, I have a Canon 70-200mm F2.8 II lens with a strange issue. The image stabilization (IS) is not working when shooting in landscape orientation, causing blurry images. However, it works fine in portrait orientation. Can you please help me diagnose the problem and guide me to the area in the lens that I should inspect? I would appreciate your assistance.❤

@@sinardets01 No, no need to (mechanically) adjust the autofocus. If you would like to fine-tune it, you can do that in your camera (if that feature is supported).

I have this lens and the part you brushed is covered in mold. Would it be best I go to a repair shop or can I clean it myself?
@CamerasLensesEtcАй бұрын
You can clean it yourself. Keep in mind that if there is mold between the two pieces of the front lens element, then you can't clean it because it is not possible to separate those two lens elements.

I have a problem, my dear. When I shoot with a lens aperture of 2:8, it does not give me high focus, and when I raise it to 4:0, there is an improvement. Please tell me what the problem is. Thank you.
@CamerasLensesEtcАй бұрын
Hello my dear! :) The problem is that your lens is not sharp at f/2.8, and if you close it down 2-3 aperture values, then the sharpness increases. I would first check if the lens has front-, or backfocus. If that is not the problem, then I would send the lens to Canon for a hardware calibration.

Hi, i cannot see at which time stamp the cable from the battery i connected to the board. My G7X Mark 1 won't turn on, tested with two original fully charged batteries. I've read maybe a cable came loose - but I cannot see in the video how far I have to go with the diassembly - maybe you might give a hint about the issue of not turning on? (batterys charged, pins in battery case not bend, battery connecters are clean, no camery drop)

Thank you for these videos, I actually repaired my lens, after some issues. First was my crappy soldering with a butane iron, had to get a better modern iron and then redo the solder work after removing my crud . Second was at final assembly the aperture ribbon would not fit as deeply as the original, found it easier to remove the board again, fit the cable as best I could, then refit the circuit board. Confidence was not high, but it worked!!!. My grateful thanks to you, excellent guides.

Hello! Thank you very much for this video, but during the disassembly stage I encountered big problems. When I tried to remove the USM motor screws, it turned out that the bolts were filled with some kind of glue or varnish. I damaged all the screwdrivers and also damaged the screw slots. Could you give me some advice on what I should do in this situation. Thank you in advance.
@CamerasLensesEtcАй бұрын
If there is groove left in the screw, you might try "bondhus screw grab", if there is no groove left, then you can try a small screw extractor drill bit, if that doesn't help you have to drill the screws. Anyway, if you damaged the heads of the screws, that means that most likely the scerwdriver did not fit the scewhead perfectly. I would recommend to buy multiple different PH000 screwdrivers and choose the one which fits the screw head the best.
