I understand you being happy with your body, but that doesn't mean the man, woman or person you are attracted to feels the same. Most of these women and those like them have standard also, they want a handsome financially stable partner...it shouldn't be a shock that standards exist on the opposite side.
@turinturambar347

Right. Half of them wouldn't even want to date an obese man. Or a short man. Or whatever. They want men to accept them for what they are, but will never accept men for the same. They're just as shallow as everybody else, but too narcissistic to see the hypocrisy and delusion.

None of these women think about what men want but they all want relationships. The author spoke about body positivity and about what sounds nice. Things sounding nice and the truth are two different things. It sucks to be shamed as a man for your preferences.

@@Hannahannahannahannahanna Except men shame these women mostly online in men's spaces. That kind of talk isn't allowed in mainstream media or mainstream platforms. Women can go on any platform and say that she likes tall men or even fit men and she will be praised and told to not lower her standards and that she's an empowered boss babe for going for what she wants. But if men go on any platform and state similar preferences for women, they are shamed, they are told that they're shallow that they're terrible and that their preferences are socially engrained and that they should be deprogrammed basically. But women have always been hypocrites on these things. They want us to accept them for their size and love them at any size, but they don't do the same for men. Where's the male body positivity movement? It doesn't exist. it's for women only. If men complain they are told they're insecure and fragile. The funny thing is, half of these obese women would never date an obese man. They want us to accept them, but they can't even date a man in their own ballpark.

My sister is obese. I’ve known her ALL my life. She eats as a defense mechanism for unresolved issues. This manifests in other aspects of her life as well. She has chronic health issues and trust believe they are a result of her weight. The body is extremely resilient however, it can’t fight you beating it up for decades. They may not have health issues now, but trust and believe, they will at some point and the will compound on each other. Body mass index is real. Our bones were only meant to carry a certain range of weight at a certain height. Excess weight carries with it a whole host of health issues that WILL show up at some point and then you’re faced with the ultimatum, CHANGE OR DIE! It’s so sad that people are more concerned with these ladies feeling rather than their health!

Exactly. It's always bothered me when they say "I'm big but I'm healthy! Size doesn't determine health!" They are too narrow-sighted to think about the future. Sure, you can be big and healthy IN THE PRESENT, but being big will ALWAYS catch up to you. Similarly you can smoke and be healthy, but smoking will usually catch up to you eventually. There's a reason why you see very few obese people in the nursing homes. They're already dead. It caught up to them all. I used to work in a nursing home and there were far more smokers than there were obese people. The obesity got them at a higher rate than smoking did. But we already know that. Obesity kills more people than cigarettes and alcohol combined.

Harmful to promote obesity as a positive thing. Not everyone should feel good about themselves all the time. These women are living harmful lifestyles. Will this show invite a bunch of meth addicts on to talk about how good it feels to get high? Because apparently feeling good about yourself no matter how bad your actions may be, is all that matters. I hope these women wake up and realize they have the power to change their diets and start exercising. They have a bad relationship with food that needs to be properly addressed. Not clapping their somewhat horrifying looking social media posts. Their bloodwork may come back fine right now, but any physician worth their salt will tell them the same thing over and over. I've never been able to get on board with this movement because it's hypocritical by nature. First off, it's only women. Ever notice that? Only women can be "body positive". Men have to accept their "shortcomings" and man-up. 2nd, most of these women could easily go out and find another man who is equally as overweight. But they almost never do. Because they themselves, for all they preach, also do not want to date an obese person. 3rd, most of the body positive types I've seen or watched, will preach on and on about how unfair it is that men "judge their bodies", yet will be the first ones to make fun of a man for being too short or being inadequate downstairs. Two things men can't change, but it's just terrible when they are judged for something they CAN change. Sorry, the movement is just full of hypocrisy and double standards.

The medical industry has decided that thinness and weight loss is health when in reality weight gain and health are not inversely correlated. I would urge people to read books like Health at Every Size and Body Respect, in which two doctors break down how pharmaceutical companies work to sell you diets that do not work and often cause you to weight cycle. They detail how the BMI is inflated and is not an accurate measure of obesity in this country. They also document the toll that constant dieting and calorie counting can take on mental health which people forget - like the people calling these women unhealthy - is also a huge part of physical health. Really as a society we are deciding whether we value our mental or physical health more when the two cannot be separated. If diet culture is causing you to correlate one physical trait with your self worth and respect then that isn’t healthy either. For some women, being thin gets them some of the respect they want and it’s a fair trade off for them but for others the toll to their mental health and conception of self esteem will make extreme exercise and dieting detrimental to their lives and happiness. I’m here for people defining happy and healthy for themselves. As someone who suffers from chronic illness, I know for many women who gain weight , disability is the root cause and that cannot be cured with diet pills. Those of us suffering from illness, especially those with limited physical mobility or in wheel chairs , many of us, must learn to accept our bodies and demand respect.

Most fat people I know can barely bring themselves to get up constantly throughout the day. It takes great effort to do things a fit person could do with relative ease, and that is where the logical concern stems from. Even if you are getting the proper nutrition in your diet, a lot of extra fat will do things like push against your spine, mess with your blood pressure, and is very likely to lead to disease such as diabetes. Don't want to watch calorie intake? Then just don't snack and eat 1-2 times a day, but eat a good amount in those times. Move around a lot more to compensate. Mental health is not being helped by making people weaker through becoming fat, and they are becoming more and more useless to society the fatter they get.

The levels of bullshit miss information is astounding. Medical industry haven't "decided" it was based on tangible evidence, study after study on the issue of Obesity. The leading death in this country is Heart disease, second diabetes. Guess what both are linked to, Obesity. You went on a rant about a bunch of nothing, I've read books and peer reviewed study by actual health experts not opinion pieces. You are grossly and ironically correlating diet pills with obesity. You can get rid of obesity without being on diet pills you are using that as a strawman to dismiss obesity being an actual health issue. And no the BMI scale is not inflated, and the BMI isn't a measurement of obesity it's a measurement of bodyfat percentage, you can't be this stupid to not know that while lecturing people. Obesity has increased over the years while our health is deteriorating. The only thing that's different is you clowns making up buzzwords and dismissing facts because it doesn't agree with your narrative.

BMI can be inaccurate for some body types, but you are absolutely off your rocker if you believe that there isn't a causal between size/weight and health. There is absolutely zero scientific doubt. It is one of the most solidified statistical causal links in all bio sciences. There's no doubt that size/weight is correlated with health. People who deny this are akin to flat-earthers. Now, does size/weight affect everybody the same? No. Some people can carry extra weight with fewer health effects than others, and some people may develop a serious condition in their 20s or 30s due to being too big. Just like smoking, some people get lung cancer when they're young and others can smoke 2 packs a day for 80 years and never have an issue. The difference is, being obese to this degree will catch up to absolutely everybody. Some smokers may escape paying the consequences from smoking, but EVERY SINGLE OBESE PERSON will eventually pay the consequences from being obese. Oh, they may be healthy in their 30s despite being obese, but it will catch up to them eventually. If it doesn't outright kill them, their joints will be so broken when they become elderly that life will be basically unlivable. Not to mention the many issues that they'll face from organ failures and other conditions that don't kill them but make life more difficult. There's a reason why you see almost no obese people in nursing homes. They're all already dead. You do see some smokers, but no obese people, unless they're in the home prematurely(I used to see people being admitted as early as their 60s, because they were incapable of carrying for themselves due to their bodies quitting on them). Being obese will kill you. There's no doubt about it. When it takes you is another question, but it will get you tomorrow or 20 years from now. I'm sorry that's an inconvenient truth for you, but you'd do yourself a lot of good if you accept it and do something about it. It's not easy, but few things that are good for you are easy.

I'll bet you anything that high school crush of hers wasn't obese. These obese women always want men to accept them as is, but don't want to date obese men themselves.

Well the thing is....if they do not change, there will be a day they can't get out of bed. Either because they got too big to move, or because their heart stopped beating in the middle of the night.
