The reason why they called this bird as The Bird of Paradise; because long time ago, there was a sailor from Britain came to this archipelago and found this bird without its legs. (traditionally, indigenous people of Papua and Maluku used the fur of this bird as their accessories that they put it on their head without its legs.) Then, when they sailed away back to London. They gave this bird as an offering to the monarch. And because of very less information about this bird, they thought that it didn't have legs. They assumed that, God has created a legless bird from heaven. That's why people start to call this bird as the bird of paradise.
