They haven't in 25 years. It is a great machine but can't compete with high resolution digital.

Robert Stowe It can at 15 if it is adjusted beyond factory stock. I work on tape machines and this one is mine . 2 track 15 ips and tuned to a Knat’s eyebrow. No don’t sell it! convert it to 7.5-15 two track like I did.

Robert Stowe I don't think so. Not if it is like mine tweaked way beyond normal specs. I can do it for you text me at 760-638-9580.

I. Use a 250 MHz Scope and adjust for phase balance with an industry test tape. Then use Stax electrostatic Earspeakers in absolute positive polarity to tweak everything the heads and circuitry can give. I have heard comparisons with Studer and Telefunken and was not impressed with the factory adjusted to spec Tandberg. Mine far outshines what I heard.

Good! Get a Tandberg. If you can't get a TD20A SE get any Tandberg better than Revox. I know I used to work on both. I still do it in retirement. A labor of love. Text me at 760-638-9580.

Those are Bose 301 Series II Speakers. Yes they are some Fantastic little speakers. They are out there. I picked up those particular ones at a local thrift for 40.00, sold them on ebay for 150.00 or so. If you can find them, Get the Bose 301 SERIES III. Those I think are the best ones. Made I think in the 1990's.

Favorite machine! I have the same machine and use it almost daily-after I serviced it a few weeks ago. I can’t go from fast rewind/fast wind on mine because the pinch roller tries to grab as soon as I hit play! (Total tape decimation). I figure the motion sensor is failing? Thoughts?
@Zcuckoo6 жыл бұрын
If you just did some kind of service on it and NOW it has this problem, I would look VERY CAREFULLY at what you just did. Doubtful something just started to fail, I would go back in, looking for pinched or broken wires etc etc etc. Good Luck, those are Fantastic machines. I have one that I came across but it needs reel tables. Ugh Take Care Tim

ZCuckoo TimR Hey-thanks for responding-I wasn’t clear when I wrote the reply, sorry. It wasn’t working right before servicing. But your advice is still right on. I need to check the wires and such. The sensor in the head block wasn’t working well at first until I cleaned lots of oxide off of the photo sensors. Thanks!

I would pull the front plate off and see what's Not happening. I'm not sure if i understand you right, is the pinch roller always engaged? Does it not rewind? or when it's rewinding and you press play, the pinch roller immediately engage before the reels finish braking to a stop? T

Any luck with the deck?
@ppeterso226 жыл бұрын
ZCuckoo TimR Exactly! The pinch roller will engage before it finishes braking following a fast wind. When I do what you did at 1:26, the pinch roller grabs the tape ripping it to shreds. I’ve been rocking the reels to slow it down to almost stop and then I engage play until I can fix.
