This video shows how I feel about my new Tandem Mobi insulin pump. I've used the t:slim X2 for the last five years and I've switched back and forth from that to the Omnipod 5 for the last two years.
I was so excited to get my hands on the world's smallest insulin pump! Please let me know if you have any questions!!

Thank you for this review. I’ve been a diabetic now for 18 years and I’m in the process of getting my first pump. I chose the Mobi because of my active lifestyle and was worried about having long tubes hanging from my pockets. And I was able to stick the Moby to me and use my shirt as protection for the tube, but I am a newbie at this and we’ll see how it goes .ps pumps used to scare me because I wasn’t in control of the amount of insulin that was directly being injected, but my doctor assures me that they are completely safe🧐🤷

You’re welcome! Those are valid feelings! I was nervous with my first pump. It was new and scary. The main thing you need to remember is that you aren’t taking any long acting insulin. So with small amounts of rapid acting insulin in its place for basal, with a hiccup you need to be cautious of DKA. It can come on very suddenly with the use of a pump. As long as you are in decent control, you should see the signs of a pump occlusion or a bad site before you go too high. A CGM will alert you so I’d certainly recommend using one with a pump. This can still happen with MDI if you inject long acting into scar tissue so I wouldn’t let this deter you from using a pump. I’m so excited for you! I think the Mobi will be absolutely perfect for you!

I’ll be waiting for the SIGI as this will truly be a game changer in insulin delivery versus Mobi. There will be broader indications for other rapid acting analogues which will work in the SIGI and also extended wear infusion sets (7 day) which will impact cost savings on disposables. Battery life and broader indications for other CGM’s included.

Sounds great! I’ll do some more research about the Sigi and reach out to Tandem for additional info. I’d like to upload a video about it soon. Thank you the info!

Hi. Hows the Bluetooth on it? The tandem slim Bluetooth is trash. I always have to make sure its on same side where I have my dexcom located or it'll lose its signal. This happens with both the g6 and g7

Hello! In my opinion, it’s the same as the t:slim. I’ve also used Omnipod 5 and I’ve found that all of these devices are the same with Bluetooth connectivity. Hopefully this will be improved on in the near future!

I’m getting one soon. Is there like a sensitive one or like one that doesn’t hurt when it goes into the skin because I know some brands make a I think it’s called like a comfort one.

Yay! I’m excited for you!! It seems like you are talking about an infusion set with an angled insertion. They are called Comfort Short Infusion Sets. If they work with the t:slim, I’m sure they will work with the Mobi. I’ve never used these, but I’d be interested in trying them one day. I’ve read that they are made for active individuals or those with a thinner layer of fatty tissue. Please let me know if you try these out with the Mobi!!

Your video is really like a light at the end of a tunnel. With me being a type-1 diabetic too I wanted to ask if one needs to buy Dexcom G6/G7 as a CGM to use the Mobi? I was having FreeStyle Libre that's why.
@JillianBoileau
@JillianBoileau 29 күн бұрын
I’m really happy you found this video useful! This is why I do what I do! As of now, the Mobi is only compatible with the Dexcom G6 and G7. Tandem is working to make it compatible with the FreeStyle Libre next. You could use the Mobi in manual mode, however you’d need the G6 or G7 to operate Control IQ.

Is this pump more better at preventing lows and highs?
@JillianBoileau
@JillianBoileau 27 күн бұрын
Hi! It uses the Control IQ algorithm for its auto mode. It can be helpful if you struggle with a lot of lows or highs. I don’t personally use it all the time. Please check out my video linked below to see why. The video is for the t:slim which also uses Control IQ. kzbin.info/www/bejne/j4a6c5VoaLx-rLMsi=4sZtjrMloqpUy5zk

basically no, its the same garbage algorithm
@JillianBoileau
@JillianBoileau 2 күн бұрын
@mad0uche @Injustice.Exposed In my opinion, none of the algorithms are ideal for pumps (unless you are taking the diy loop route), however, I do believe that Control IQ is far superior to the Smart Adjust algorithm that Omnipod uses. I’ve heard from many that Control IQ is the best readily available with pumps.

Considering you have to throw an entire omnipod away every 3 days, being able to reustilize the pump portion will help save on waste in the long run.
@JillianBoileau
@JillianBoileau Ай бұрын
That’s a good point, except that if you send used Omnipods back to Insulet, they will recycle them for you! I forgot to mention that in this video. Sorry about that!

Why do you prefer this to the omnipod5? What do you think pros and cons are?

Hi! Please check out my video: Omnipod 5 vs T:Slim X2: Which Device Works Best for Me kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3m9YaGVd7iNgLc Although it’s comparing the t:slim to the O5, the reasons I prefer the Mobi over the O5 would mostly be the same. The main reason wound probably be Control IQ over Smart Adjust (the auto-modes). While I don’t use this too often, I feel like it’s one of the main reasons someone would get either one of these pumps. Let me know if you have anymore questions!!

Insulin waste from a short infusion set to a longer infusion set is next to none it should never be a concern for anyone considering what to buy it’s so small most would struggle to measure it accurately 👍🏼
@JillianBoileau
@JillianBoileau 29 күн бұрын
I know you said it’s hard to measure the amount wasted, but I know it takes over 12 units to fill my 23 inch tubing. So for 5 inch tubing, let’s estimate it takes 2.5 units. That’s 9.5 units less than the 23 inch tubing. So if you change your site every 3 days, that’s 95 units less to be wasted. That’s about 3 days worth of insulin for me. If you are paying out of pocket for your insulin, I’d like to say that this could be a deciding factor for someone shopping around.

@@JillianBoileau if you're paying out of pocket for your insulin or your T1D supplies you need to re evaluate your life because you're in a position where you can't afford not to have health insurance.

Hi! I personally do have health insurance, but some may struggle affording it. I just thought it was worth pointing this out. There are also other factors that could cause a lapse in insurance where an individual may need to pay out-of-pocket for some time.

Did u get around 2 watching the Dr Bernstein KZbin about reversing complications? I remember he told a story about a patient of his who wad scheduled 4 eye surgery - the patient decided to hold off on the procedure and do everything Dr B recommend. The patient returned to the eye doctor and there had been so much improvement it was determined that the operation was no longer necessary. The eye doc called Dr B with questions because he had never seen that before and acknowledged he didn't even know it was possible etc. If the story wasn't in the video I sent u the link 4 then it is elsewhere but I remember it well. My own retinopathy diagnosis initially was moderate but has since been changed to mild. Diabetics should spread the good news about what is possible. Of course Dr B IS responsible and explained that it depends of course on how advanced the existing damage is and that it's going to take time 2 c healing/reversal/improvement. U can't change the past but u can decide to change NOW!!!

Yes, I did! I don’t recall him talking about that particular story in the video you linked, but I think he may have mentioned it in his book. I’d have to go back and check. It’s amazing how many people’s lives Dr B has changed. One of the main reasons I started my channel was to present his findings to other diabetics who haven’t come across this information before. It’s so unreal how you can turn your life/health around with a few substitutions and a little discipline. I admit, it takes constant effort, but it beats the alternative of living the rest of your life with debilitating consequences. Keep on spreading the news of your success, my friend!!
