martial artists are true heros. they show the prove the power of the human body. to see them still practicing into their later years, im never going to stop working out and try to stay active as long as i can.

You say that, but these arts have endured the test of time for hundreds, if not thousands of years.

They are from Hongkong. All three exponemts were skilled practioner but not professional..And they went to China to learn more about the Praying Mantis technique. There are 2 different style, one is Northern Praying Mantis while the other is Southern Praying Mantis and they want to see what's the difference between these 2.The guys are speaking Cantonese.

Test of time for martial arts is not saying its "been around longer" but proven in battle. Karate, Taekwondo, and even Kung Fu were all battle tested styles and survive today because they work. A ring or an arena is not the ultimate test because of the limits that come with that kind of fighting. Ring fighting and battle fighting are two different things.

taekwondo is BS, also karate is copy from chinese kungfu

Very cool. Really wish it had subtitles... But still, its always great to see people have mastered themselves and what they do... regardless of the martial system. Thanks for posting this!

Out of all these Masters the best in my opinion was the Master who taught the Staff. His moves were very practical, realistic and I have actually done some of those moves in Staff sparring.

Though there is merit in ring fighting, there are obviously rules and restrictions that prevent fighters from going "all out". The ring is also "safe" in a lot of ways, and the art of killing becomes a sport, and the two are very different. In a real fight your heart pumps so much faster like its about to explode, adrenaline courses through your veins, and the most important part is the flight or fight part of your brain begins firing. Most older styles condition specifically this.

Wing chun and northern mantis are two separate approaches. a student should never try to learn both at the same time. The stance and how one moves and steps are way too different. while sticking trapping and suppression is a common trait they are very very different. Mantis deals with long range first wc prefers a close game.

From watching, it looked like the pink tank top guy learned the best skills, he really seemed to have a great grasp of inside fighting, which Preying Mantis is really atuned to.

Depends on the application. If you're talking about sport, then yes it is a cheap shot and looked down on. If you're talking about a real struggle/survival, anything goes.

the forms look so good, but when they start sparring it starts to look like any other street fight with added different angles of random flailing. i guess a milliion can practice this but only a few can make it practical on live sparring

Am I so wrong if I find mantis more or less similar to wing chun? I've had this idea for a long time, since I've started to study shaolin/sanda. Mantis is fast and exploits short range to hit quickly many many times,at least for what I've practised...

If were talking a street fight, the kung fu guy would win since his style is closer to the original martial arts style, muay thai is a "sport" version of the older muay boran style which is a true martial arts style which like all "martial" arts was made for mortal combat. Muay thai have most of the locks and death blows taken out of it, which kung fu still has so, imo.

If you're already trying to kill someone, I don't see why you would should avoid hitting the genitals. Not that they're actually trying to kill each other but they are attempting to safely simulate it.

that's fine. It doesnt even have to be that great if its targeting untrained offensives then does it.
@spinsaw11 жыл бұрын
that's not funny that actually puts extra power in your strikes not only that its good for when your striking your not only striking your leaving your body tensed therefore if your opponent counter attacks you your body is in defense mode without you having to do anything

Nice video and great to see people enjoying something with a passion. But its the same problem I always see with Kung Fu sparring. No defence, chin exposed and all attack attitude. No footwork just moving backwards with the chin exposed. Its a shame because if more attention was given to these things Kung Fu would be much more effective. I coached and trained San shou for ten years and this lack of head movement and linear footwork was the biggest problem I ever dealt with.
