That's the Tang Soo Do version of Shotokan's Tekki Shodan. 👌👌👌

I would offer that Kee learned Naihanchi in Japan at the Dai Nihon Karate Do honbu dojo in Suido-bashi, because Tekki Kata had not yet changed the name for nationalistic purposes. All three are pretty close though. His nationalism led him to forget to mention where he learned it in Japan. Note: tang soo is the Korean pronunciation of the Tang te(tode) and further back Naihanchi. Karate, when first exported to Japan by Funakoshi, and later Mabuni. Okinawans still taught tuidi (Todi/tode) as they had all not yet ratified the alternate pronunciation for To to Kara. All the To or Tang names meaning China Hand. After the switch to eliminate any name that could be associated with China. Naihanchi was renamed Tekki.

Probably the best execution I have ever seen. Especially liked the way you broke it up into sections for the step command (Kihop).

Tang Soo Do is the descendant of Shotokan karate.
@pauldavison71055 ай бұрын
@@Starlord2334no Tang Soo Do is based on ancient Korean martial arts Soo Bahk Ki and Tae Kyun. American Tang Soo Do created by Chuck Norris has other techniques added including from Shotokan. Karate influences prior to that occurred in the early 1900,s during the Japanese occupation of Korea. So whilst it has been influenced by karate it certainly isn't a descendent of it.

It's basically the same kata, with some minor differences. The Naihanchi and tekki series are basically the same, just the name was changed - as well as most of the kata in shotokan. Also, tang soo do incorporates many features of karate, including many kata.
