I have a huge tangelo tree in my backyard. Yup theres like 200 -300 fruits on it. I've had some years where the fruit were small and some years where they were huge. Some have seeds and some don't. I give away most to coworkers. Still have a 100 plus for myself. Sweet tangy and juicy

My wife and I stopp d at a local orchard and tried a shiranui sumo and we both agreed it was the best tasting citrus we’ve ever tried . I ordered a tree 2 years ago and planted it in my yard . I’m seeing flower buds this spring so hopefully we will have some this year . They have the hump on top like yours do so must be a cross with a tangelo and mandarin.

ponkan(mandarin x pomelo) x kiyomi(tangerine x orange) = shiranui

What is that? Looks like both a Honeybell and a Sugar Belle. In Florida Honeybells get about grapefruit sized and Sugar Belles (a Honeybell Clementine hybrid) is more mandarin sized.

Do you have other citrus trees near by to pollinate? We just got 2 trees, and then I read they will not self pollinate. I’m sad I think I’ll never get mine to fruit 😭 I’m in Melbourne also.... Melbourne Florida 😉

I have many other citrus nearby, oranges, pomelo, lemon, grapefruit and mandarin trees. I would plant another citrus for cross pollination. Check on this forum for suitable pollinators. www.houzz.com/discussions/1815217/minneola-tangelo

Just bought a grafted minneola tangelo to grow in a pot here in Darwin, NT. Will be interesting to see if it performs up here. BTW, they have bumper crops every other year, I was reading.

That is correct, mine has bumper yields every other year. Good luck!

I wish my pearl tangelos were that big I would be grafting branches to rootstock. Added a branch to a yuzu and the tangelo became dominant.

I didn't know about the tangelo until recently last year but since I discovered the tangelo It is my favorite citrus as of now, though i have to taste my mandelo (mandarin pummelo hybrid)Tree i just bought last year to compare mandelo vs tangelo, pummelo is my second favorite, cara cara is also very good, I bought 4 Tangelo trees 2 dwarfs in the ground I standard in the ground, and another dwarf in a pot. I read that tangelo has to be picked or they will not produce fruit next year until its all picked. I have mandarins and my murcott is as good as my tangeloToo. Though I prefer tangelo over mandarin.
