My impression of this wonderful man is honesty and integrity. So lovely to witness him telling us about his master craft.

Lovely sound on the tickover. I use an old stethoscope to listen around the casing. It's also good for checking bearings and other moving parts. Listening to a healthy engine gives us a good idea what they should sound like, then we can better tell when they're ill. Thanks Joe. Really enjoying your Chanel while we're not busy here.

Lovely engines beautifully made, mind you so were Lister JP's and Kelvin J and k I guess Gardner there well deserved reputation due to time in production

Could you not split the old chain and join on the new chain to the end of it and bar over the engine (while keeping tension on the chain) to pull the new chain in around the sprockets and once it comes around again you could detach the old chain and join the two ends of the new chain.

Well, the least you'll have to do is pull off the back cover and have a look. Disconnect the batteries first.

Sounds much better. What was the squeaking noise? Almost sounded as if it was running dry.
