@wb48826 жыл бұрын
I use the knock off of that brush, called the horse brush or something. Bought it for a few bucks. I mainly use my seamless comb. Hercules. One side has fine tooth, the other side, this pointy wide tooth. Its less to do with the tool though, type 4 hair chicks need to be using a cream moisturizer under hair grease, if they want to stop having friction that causes breakage. I never have these issues on my 4c hair anymore. I LCG once a week. Tea water, soft and beautiful botanicals hair masque, and blue magic indian hemp. Sometimes I add other oils over the grease, but I don't need it. I never get matting. Ever. I also learned you do not need to wash your hair everytime you moisturize it(LCG). My wash day is 1-2 months. I retain so much length when I learned this. I used to get matting every 5 days. Now I just don't get it. At all. shed hair slides out. And it looks white when I apply it, but the next day its not, nor does it feel greasy. Also my 4c hair coils from the scalp to the tip and my edges have filled in. I band my hair in 4 sections, secure the back 2 sections in onthemselves into 2 mini buns. Then attatch the two front sections to the back. Result is 2 fake cornrolls. Then silk durag and wig cap and wig. I retain tons of length this way.

Lord have mercy chile! This was painful to watch. The reason you're losing so much hair is because you're supposed to comb it first! Honestly speaking, neither one of those tools is appropriate for 4c hair. You need the kind of Denman brush that has balls on the tip of the bristles to smooth and detangle. I bought one from the Dollar Tree and had it for years. And instead of yanking it through from the root, use a gentler touch and smaller strokes when you feel resistance.

I know girl! I'm 6 years into this natural hair journey, and I'm just trying the tangle teaser 2 washes ago. SMH! I actually bought one a couple of years ago. I looked at all those bristles, punked out, and gave it away without ever using it. All this time, I've been spending an hour finger detangling in the shower and suffocating in the steam! To experiment, I tried finger detangling 1 section. I stopped when I came across a really tangled area that would have taken me a long time to finger detangle strand-by-strand (very frequent with my 4b/c hair). I switched to the tangle teaser, and I never found that tangled area again. It was just gone. What had been an obstacle for my gentle fingers was a non-MFing factor for the tangle teaser! I've been a believer ever since. The only thing I still finger detangle are the very ends of my hair because I noticed a little snagging when I started at the very end with the tangle teaser.

I appreciate this. I've never liked the denman brush despite how much some seem to rave about it. I find the denman may only be good if your curl pattern is more lose or if you have straight hair. For years I've stuck with a good ol' pick. Not the cheap metal ones but investing in one is a better alternative to all these other combing products.

Haha I just lost my denman brush and was considering getting a new one or tangle teaser. Timely video 👍

I mean denman brushes are typically used for styling instead of detangling because of how known it is to tug. So once you detangle with another method you would then go with the denman to define and style the hair

Your hair is so beautuful. This is only the second video I watched of yours. But I subscribed during the first video -didn't even wait until the end. But anyway.... I used the tangle teezer when I first went natural. I stopped using it. Then I started using it again a few years later. Each time I found that this brush SHREDDED my ends. I had to trim so often. It was butter. Then I got to the ends and it just ripped through them. I just wanted to warn you so that you can watch for it and be aware as you use the brush. Maybe I was doing something wrong. That was years ago. So maybe I was. But I think that it's good to be aware of possible damage so that you can watch for it. Keep up the awesome work. I can't wait to watch more of your videos!

Tangle teaser damages your hair over time... 4c hair shouldn't be detangled while it's dry... Saturate your hair with a cheap conditioner and or oil then detangle...
@florafauna4346 жыл бұрын
I agree. I've used the tangle teezer from 2013-2017 and have noticed damage over time. When I first used it, it seemed to work great (easy to detangle, fast, convenient, etc.) and my hair looked perfectly fine, but over time, I began to notice that the condition of my hair was starting to take a nose dive. I somehow retained quite a bit of length, but about 4-6 in. of my ends were shredded and see-through (possibly also due to my iron deficiency anemia). In 2018, I decided to go back to using the old-school wide-tooth comb and occasional finger detangling. I will never use detangling brushes again!

i suggest you take out every other row on your denman brush. it'll pull out less strands for your 4c/4b hair

I’ve been using the denman brush for 4 years. I might have to go order me a tangle teaser and see how it goes. I lose quite a bit of hair with the denman brush but haven’t thought anything of it until now.

I always detangle my hair with a wide-tooth detangling comb in the shower while my hair is saturated with conditioner. Then I go through with my detangling brush to define the curls.

little tip: always start detangling your hair with your fingers first. THEN you can move on with any brush that works best for you. Also dont be afraid to use more products or drench your hair, the more slip the better.

You bought the wrong tangle teaser. There is a version for afro hair.

So interesting to watch videos like this with people with 4c hair. I have 3a/b hair and I bought the tangle teezer years ago. Initially I was quite impressed but after a while I started to really dislike it. I have quite thick hair and I felt that I never quite reached the roots of my hair with it. Been detangling with a wide toothed comb for the past years but I just bought a denman, mainly because I'm curious to try styling my hair with it and see if it adds definition. However, I can totally see why you would prefer the tangle teezer. Detangling 4c hair looks like a (painful) adventure for sure.

I bought the tangle teaser and immediately lost hair strands, lots of strands. There used to be a girl on KZbin called LongHairDontCare may she RIP. Well, Longhairdontcare taught how to remove every other strand of bristles from the denman brush to make the spaces even wider. When I detangle I use the denman I removed rows from and though I have hair that naturally sheds, I get much less hair loss.

It hurt her because she brushed her hair wrong she brushed it top to bottom and you have to brush it bottom to top and because she brushed it with to big sections
@QueenNef9636 жыл бұрын
Well first off I'd like to say thank for having this channel in the first place it helps a lot of people. I feel when I say this I am having an unbiased opinion because I have never used either. I personally have to say that from what I see I can't really decide which is better. 1. I don't think you wet your hair as much for the Denman brush as for the tangle teaser the second one. 2. You used a bigger section for the Denman brush which means more tangles which also means more hair is gonna come out. 3. I do not know how long you've had you Denman brush but if you have had it for a while it gets that natural wear and tear. So that means when you use it, it isn't going to be as good as when you first bought it compared to the tangle teaser which you literally just got.

So maybe detangle with the tangle teaser and then define with the denman?
@Kayla_Kizzle6 жыл бұрын
Your hair doesn't seem like 4c hair. From my experience working with a trichologist your hair looks like a mixture between 4b and 4a and maybe cottony/wooly. There are parts of your hair that clearly has a curl pattern. With 4c hair the curl pattern is not clearly visible or defined.

I just did a research on this brush because I was needing another brush besides my tangle buster that I’ve been using for 2 years. Hair changed so had my brush 😂 so while I was looking I noticed that it’s a white lady brush 😳 why it can be used on dry hair. But I does work for out 4 type hair wet! I’m excited to use my tangle teezer! Just ordered it from your review! Great job! On review! I purchase the one with the short handle! We’ll see how it works! I enjoyed watching!👍🏾

1. Your eye lashes do look amazing, I kept thinking how cute they look on you! They look soo natural! Are they natural? I like them. 2. Your hair looks so thick and healthy, what do you use on your hair? I’m trying to get my hair to grow back to it’s natural fullness like yours. 3. I think the tangle teezer is more for thinner hair and the other is for thicker hair. That’s just my opinion. Also I think the teezer might be for a detangler.
