When the kingdom's most wanted-and most charming-bandit, Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi), hides out in a mysterious tower, he's taken hostage by Rapunzel (Mandy Moore), a beautiful and feisty tower-bound teen with 70 feet of magical, golden hair. Flynn's curious captor, who's looking for her ticket out of the tower where she's been locked away for years, strikes a deal with the handsome thief, and the unlikely duo sets off on an action-packed escapade, complete with a super-cop horse (Maximus), an over-protective chameleon (Pascal), and a gruff gang of pub thugs.

One small detail everyone loves is that whenever gothel says something caring to rapunzel, she is always talking directly to the hair. But Eugene actually pushed her hair out of the way when getting close to her.

As you see...no clock mentioned ever...there's the concept of"too late",but it's pretty vague,I'd say....Also..as Yelena said, the fact it heals Flynn's hand and his lethal wound could be interpreted as,guess, having HEALING POWERS other than"turning back time"!:-P

@@ma.2089 I haven't seen the series, but based just on what's in the film, we don't really know that the king was the one sentencing people to death. He could have local judges doing that kind of stuff. And it's likely Flynn and the Stabbington bros did a LOT more than that one theft. They were already wanted by that point, after all. And the bros don't seem to have many qualms about offing people. So Flynn could very well be an unknowing accessory to murder. 🤷‍♀️

The eyes being huge became a major trend in animation within the last decade or two - it helps animators convey more emotion through characters without getting into “uncanny valley” territory for viewers watching.

They went overboard, though. Eugene's eyes are large, but not crazy large. In fact, it's really just female eyes that are "goblin" big. When Frozen came out years ago, I was really turned off with what to me looked like alien faces on Elsa and Anna. So many animated movies since then have used the "overly attached girlfriend" look, that I'm used to it now, but it is still weird. Just imagine how much of her skull is taken by the eyeballs! At least they aren't like Smurf eyes, where the eyeballs actually touch. That is freaky!

If you remember near the beginning Rapunzel tells Flynn when she makes a promise she never ever breaks that promise. That establishes promises as something sacred to her and an essential part of her character. So when she promises Gothel that she will go with her forever if she heals Flynn, that makes it impossible for Flynn to come back later and save her. There is nothing he could have done to save her without making her violate her promise, which would, in a sense, have made her die. The only option open to him was to prevent his own healing. And the only way he could do that at the time was to cut her hair.

I always thought about if rapunzel has ever promised her mother before that she wont ever leave cuzz it kinda doesnt make sense that if gothel knew that promises are sacred for rapunzel she must have kinda forced her in a way so rapunzel promises her to never leave. One of the things I love about this movie is how they showed her father grieving, in a more outward way than even the mother (though they were both grieving). When my niece was stillborn, people asked me how my sister-in-law was, but no one asked about my brother, and it pissed me off. And in movies they always show the mom being devastated, but the dad is just kinda bummed that his wife is bummed about it and they always show him being "strong," and trying to bring her out of it. Once I even saw a clip of a movie where they came home from the doctor's office after finding out there was no heartbeat and the dad tried to cheer her up by being like, "You know... that trip we've always wanted to take to Ireland... we could do that now." LIKE ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! NO. Dads grieve when they loose their babies. God bless whoever's idea it was to show the dad grieving more outwardly than the mom in this movie. I see my brother every time I look at him.

I love that you're not afraid to let us see you cry. I love it when movies emotionally sweep you away. Don't we all just want to feel something? The term your looking for is gaslighting. Which basically means that the one being mentally abused is aware of how the actions are affecting them but when they speak out, the abuser does everything in their power to make the person feel like they are crazy for thinking that there is a thing wrong. They make the person feel guilty for standing up for themselves and convince them that they are nothing without them. Mother Gothel got away with this pretty easily because Rapunzel has never been outside the tower and has never been out on her own. She feels insecure without her " mother" there to support her. Mother Gothel does not support her wishes to go outside, or anywhere. It has resulted in a very unhealthy co-dependent relationship between her and mother Gothel. Mother Gothel has kept her from wanting to explore ( even if she IS curious) by making the outside world out to be dangerous, more so that it actually is. Telling her lies to keep her close. Even though Rapunzel clearly gets offended, sad, disappointed, and insecure from her mothers constant criticism and words in general, she will not up front tell her that she is wrong because she does not believe she is wrong-at least during the first half of this movie.

This cartoon is associated with one of my best memories. I was in my last High School year and we had our 2 last lessons substituted, which my whole class ignored, and all of us went to a cinema in the area, used our kids discount on te tickets and bought a few large buckets of popcorn to share for every penny we had left. This daring escape from classroom has brought us a lot loser together. Besides the rebelous experience itself, we were all crying at the end of the cartoon, and had to share a pack of pocket napkins too. We were sitting on the last row hugging in pairs and crying in the emotional moment. This really bonded us and now I am so proud when we gather together, 10 years past. Interestinly, it was the whole Kingdom Dance scene that actually always drew tears to my eyes. Something in this music and the shots transitions have always touched strings of my soul.... I still cry when I watch it, especially when the violin part comes forward. So upbeat, tender and powerful.

seeing Maximus and Pascal's animated characters and personality reminds me of the animated movie Bolt! They were so cute in this movie! Bolt is a great older animated movie, if that's not on your list, I recommend it 100%! You'll probably shed some tears though, but still a great movie!

Answering some of your questions: - Yeah, her hair is veryyyyy long lol. 70 feet long, to be exact. - How does she keep it clean? We don't know, tbh. We'll just say "maaagic" and leave it there lol. - "She, like, insults her, and then tries to say "I'm just teasing" every time." Yeah, emotional manipulation at its finest. This is the whole reason Rapunzel wants to ask first instead of just leaving; Gothel has consistently been emotionally abusing and gaslighting her for the past 18 years, plus feeding her lies about how dangerous everything is out there, leaving her with a fear of the outside world/lack of confidence. - Without spoiling too much, no, Eugene isn't from the Kingdom of Corona, although he has spent a considerable amount of time there and is one of their most notorious criminals. His birthplace is visited in the tv series, however. - Nah, Gothel wouldn't try to kill Rapunzel or cut her hair. Why would she get rid of the one thing she needs to stay immortal? - "You can be okay, and then go save her." If Rapunzel had healed him, she would have had to go with Gothel because she "never, EVER" breaks a promise, remember? Gothel was going to leave Eugene shackled so he couldn't follow them, Rapunzel would have gone with Gothel "willingly" because of her promise, and by the time Eugene escaped they would have been gone and he worried he'd never find her again. Cutting her hair was the only way to completely free her from Gothel's control. I doubt he realised it would actually kill Gothel, but Gothel wouldn't have been able to use her anymore. - "What the heck, he's really dead??" Well, he did say at the beginning that this was the story of how he died. Not the death of his former life as you interpreted it at the beginning, the story of how he literally died haha. - Magical *tear, not tears. The tear that Rapunzel let out which healed Eugene was the last of her magic leaving her; she and her hair no longer have healing properties after this point.

If you loved this, you should also watch Tangled: The Series! Not as a reaction thing or anything, 'cause it is 3 seasons long, but it does a ton more world building and gives so much more lore on the magic of the flower! Plus it has a super amazing story and so much drama and detail that even adults can get super into it!

Loved this reaction! This movie left such a huge impact on me when it first came out and still holds a special place in my heart. It helped me get through the toughest years of my life (and my own personal Mother Gothel) when I didn't think that I could. I would highly recommend watching the short Tangled Ever After if you want more Maximus and Pascal! And you simply must watch the TV series, even if you don't react to it and it's just on your own time. It's a fantastic addition to the story. Cheers!

23:08 that, my dear sir, is called being an Empath. It's not super common. But those that have it feel DEEPLY. Not just your emotions, but other people's emotions, too. And you're affected by them. For me, if someone is angry, I get angry, and if someone cries, I cry. It sucks. But it's great too. You can always tell how others are feeling. Even if they don't wanna talk about it. Edit: also, anime copied Disney and his big eyed princesses. Literally. The first anime artists cited Walt Disney and Snow White as their inspiration. Disney has been around slightly longer than anime. Snow White came out in 1938.

I think it kinda ping ponged- anime was inspired by Disney for big eyes, but eventually anime eyes got REALLY big and now Disney’s eyes have followed anime. Full circle kind of thing.

Man I would really recommend to watch Rapunzel and Eugene's wedding sequence on KZbin. It's hilarious with Maximus and Pascal accidentally losing the wedding rings as Rapunzel and Eugene are taking vows, it's their whole hilarious journey of searching the rings and getting them to alter at time, kinda like small sequences of Jack-Jack using his powers in other KZbin videos so do watch it. Also I would really recommend to watch Legend of the guardians: owls of Ga'Hoole, The Adventures of TinTin and Meet the Robinsons.

We-ell... the Prince doesn't exactly rescue Rapunzel in the original fairytale... more like gets her pregnant, and when the witch finds out, she cuts rapunzel hair off and sends her out in the wilderness alone. The Prince comes to visit, and the witch throws him out of the tower...he lands in thornbushes and loses his eyes (!). He wanders the wilderness blind, but hears Rapunzel singing (that's how he found her in the tower too), she cries tears of empathy and love, and when her tears land on his eyes, they are healed and he can see again. She has given birth to twins in the meantime, and they live as a family happy ever after etc ;) At least that's one version. It's a folktale, so there are several versions, depending on the region you know it from :) In some versions the girl is called Cornflower instead of Rapunzel, and in some she's not a princess but just a girl. I live in Denmark and have grown up on the original (ish) versions of the fairytales. The Disney versions seldom has much to do with the actual fairytales they name themselves after. A lot of fabulous movies (I really like a lot of them), - but many of them I feel, should have had different names (like Tangled) as they have very little in common with the original stories (which are often pretty dark ;) ) Edit: I'm sorry for ranting a bit there ;) But it makes me a bit sad, that SO many people don't know the original stories 😉❤ Damn...I feel so old now, lol 🤣

40:30 "She still has the power in her tear." I don't think so -- I think that tear _was_ the 'drop of sunshine' mentioned at the beginning, that was in the plant and transferred to the queen and then Rapunzel. ... Which means that now its power is in _Eugene._

I know the feeling of eyes tearing when seeing someone cry in a movie. It's a combination of when someone does good acting (in this case for example the fathers face) + knowing a sad backstory for that moment and being very immersed in a movie and its characters. And as an addition in some cases also relating to something, that you as the watcher experienced in your life in some way. These type of movies are good at that because they putting all their focus on giving the watcher a rollercoaster of emotions with strong contrasts.
