Tango - Francisco Tárrega - Classical Guitar Tango - Spanish Romantic Music

This is my performance of Francisco Tarrega's Tango, a Spanish Romantic piece is in G minor and G major, and uses an altered tuning. For this piece you tune the fifth string down to G and the sixth string down to D! It has the classic Tango rhythm evident with the octave melody as the introduction to the piece. Then, the first main theme is in G minor with a beautifully haunting melodic expressed in thirds. This section is repeated and then modulates to the tonic major bringing a lot of warmth and sunshine to the music, making it very reminiscent of Spain. Modulations from the tonic major to the tonic minor is very common in the works of Tarrega, Granados and Albeniz and became a consistent feature of what I would call impressionist music. These movements of key create a really strong emotional contrast in the music which is fully evident here. There is a full repeat in this music with a return to the minor theme and the piece finishing in the major.
This piece was recorded recently at Rokit Studios in West London. The recording and video engineering was done by Mark Rose.
The guitar I used is a 2011 Filipe Conde FP14 NA CW, made in Madrid.
