I love this entire scenario so much. Zedaph is one of the most wholesome pranksters of all time, and the way he got Grian, the ultimate pranklord into his whole ordial and totally made him his servant. you don't lose hunger and saturation from just existing lol. existing, walking _(specifically_ walking, not sprinting or jumping), fishing, and a few other minor actions don't cost hunger or saturation. For the most part, hunger is only spent if the action being taken is something that would be physically strenuous to do for extended periods of time (sprinting, jumping, swimming) or if it would be physically strenuous to do repeatedly (breaking blocks, fighting mobs, using bows or crossbows) - this is part of why the Elytra is the best movement type in the game. Boats and Minecarts, while not requiring hunger to use them, are _most often_ used in scenarios that involve structures that definitely cost a heck of a lot of hunger to build. With Elytra, you can _fall_ off a ledge (jumping costs hunger) to activate it, then use fireworks to keep going. if those fireworks don't contain stars (which hurt you, meaning you'd have to then heal, which costs hunger), your hunger will stay where it is, no matter how many thousands of blocks you travel
