Suggestion for invalid stamps. Add a mailbox for the post master general. Then you can add a hopper full of stamps immediately after the mailbox. The mail carts will pick up the stamp on the first time around and will get diverted to the lost & found on the second. Ps. Etho missed the minecart transfer station to reset the minecart's portal timer.

1:15:30 So I did a little 5-minute digging, and the concepts of hz and fps don't precisely translate into how the human eye/brain works. Although image signals stick around in the brain for about 1/15 of a second (15hz), and untrained people start losing the ability to distinguish frame rates above ~100hz, you are able to perceive much faster things. You can see frames that flash for 1 in the low hundredths of a second, and even identify objects in that time span. There are other factors to consider, such as what's being shown, but human ayes aren't limited by a max of 30fps.

LTT did a test on this, even if not perceptible a link can be shown between higher refresh rate and reaction time for say a headshot in shooters, at least up to 240hz or so. That's a critical part, a higher refresh rate means you may get the signal to your eyeballs a few milliseconds faster which means you can react that fraction faster - time from event to reaction to outcome can decrease, even if it doesn't perceptibly look nicer. I can see the difference up to about 144hz, past that it's effectively imperceptible unless I'm specifically looking for it.

If you fill a dropper with junk items and the items get correctly cycled 99,9% of the time, that 0,1% of the time you lose an item isn't going to break your system. The bigger problem is going to be that two minecarts going directly after another might take the wrong junction. Because if the first one switches to Zedaph's track for example then the one driving right after it will also drive there, even though it was meant for Etho, unless your timing is incredibly tight.

You could have activator rail control two junctions, one to the right destination, the other to short circuit the loop (and bypass the activator rail). This way only one mine cart will make it to the destination and all others will stay on the loop and avoid triggering the detector rail and going to wrong destination (at the cost of maybe making an extra loop). As both junctions are controlled by same detector rail, the loop will revert to closed normal state at the same time.

A T flip-flop connected to the detector rail and item returning to nether line fixes your problem. However it doesn't fix your second box going to the same address as the first which either needs waiting loops to enter the main line or very precise timings to exit. Other option is to just call it mail service and have a risk of packages going to the wrong address/getting lost :)

for your chunk loader issue with 2 minecarts being too close, i think you should be able to do a piston between the detector rail and the pulse extender that will cut the circuit so no minecarts can continue to power the pulse extender until its completely unpowered. then as long as the pulse extender is long enough for the loader to complete cycle i don't see you running into any issues with minecart proximity.

Bear in mind that if you have a problem with an item filter that can also cause a stamp to be "invalid" One solution (since the system is a loop) would be, whenever a package goes out, the sender's stamp is included with the minecart. That way if a package goes out on the loop and the destination can't be found, it'll wind up back at the sender (unless the sender stamp is also unrecognzied) You don't want to wind up with minecarts traveling that loop forever, loading all those chunks all the time

I think automatically adding the return address is a good idea, but if it’s important to preserve anonymity as a possibility you can just tell people to throw their own stamp in alongside the parcel for return service. that way if anything breaks you can confidently call it user error :)

Make each mailbox insert it’s own stamp as a return address, the cart will always be pulled off at the correct address and the receiver will know who sent the letter, and can reply easily, and invalid stamps will return to sender… you can add a public mailbox for anon messages.

*** SOLUTION *** Add more detector rails. This allows multiple carts to effectively trigger the chuck loader to cycle once. Have 3 or 4 detector rails inline (input array) with a redstone dust line beside them that combines the inputs. By doing this when a second cart enters the input array the signal is still triggered because the first cart was also on the array. Because the signal is maintained there will only be one cycle.

too late for it now, but i've had a similar issue once with a similar system, it's easier to make 2 finite lines. One for sending, and one for receiving. When someone sends something, it goes down a 1st line to and end. On that end, minecarts stack on top of each other and are then released with a timing gap going down the second line. the second line brings the cart down the finite line and to the appropriate portal from the other side diagonally from where the minecarts come out. EDIT: this also fixes the issue of maybe minecarts colliding, going in reverse and entering a "sending" rail from someone elses portal.

Okay I am terrible at Redstone but decent at logic sometimes. I have two ideas that might solve the double Minecart issue. Idea one is to trigger a loop preceding the detector rail to prevent additional cars from hitting the detector rail too soon. A preceding loop could even be quite large to accommodate several minecarts. It could also be technical enough to capture extra minecarts and redispense them on a timer. Second idea is put a notification counter attached to the iron nugget container so at least if you have to reload it periodically you can fly through and only load the ones that have signaled they are low/empty without having to check each one.

Simplest fix could be to make the detector rail go into a 15sec comperator signal lengthener, then only input will be possible if the minecart comes in after the portal is deactivated. Only problem with that could be if the minecart comes exactly in the wrong/right millisecond where it comes into the new chunk and the chunk loading stops while the minecart hasn’t reactivated the portal again, but if the chunk loading stays for like a minute after destroying the portal it would be fool proof, I’m not that informed about the exact mechanics of the chunk loading

Not to be that guy, but a little tech tip. If your videos and streams are both at 60 fps. You don't want to play at 144. They will be an occasional time when your 60 fps streams are trying to pull a frame that is in-between the 144 rendered and cause tearing. Keep it at a multiple of 60 to best prevent tearing. 120 is most common. Though some monitors can go as high as 300
