@@PanzerPaw this game made me put aside Steel Beasts Pro PE for now. It is less in depth but way faster to get to the fun bits and accurate enough to scratch that itch. I think it is accurate where it matters. I would love for sone more system's modeling. Like getting a tank mission killed shouldn't necessarily be a hard kill. If an HE shell from another tank or IFV wrecks my optics and thermals, that is it for that mission.

@@Heldermaior Yep! Even the devs say they are ultimately trying to make a tank game that THEY want to play. It's not about being a perfect simulation. It's about being enjoyable first!

@@PanzerPaw Have you seen how some of the earliest tank sims worked? Before computer generated graphics they literally made a miniature landscape, sat you in the mockup tank with all the controls, and fed the image from a camera on a stick to a display in front of you. (the camera on a stick was motorized and moved through the miniaturized terrain) If interested search for Tom Scott tank simulator on youtube, he does a video showing the last remaining example of this in a museum (he does actually drive it too... and nearly knocks himself out on the hatch while changing gear lol)

honestly, it sounds like they need to add injured crew voice lines, where the lines are the same but they're out of breath and gritting their teeth while giving commands. and more than likely pissed off as well.

Interesting detail i noticed just now, take a look at how different the crew sounds when they're wounded, Other things also happen, for example your Loader will sound more distressed if your commander is killed and such, I like visual details like this.

Squad is great, no really good I’m not damning with feint praise here, but it’s multiplayer only. Some of us have poor eyesight, older reflexes etc so don’t enjoy being a seal to be clubbed in Squad with all the 18 year olds with 20/20 and the fastest reflexes they are ever going to have. So I’m supporting GHPC because, even though there are plans for multiplayer is at the moment single player focussed.

Question: I see you and a couple other real tankers play tank games on YT and I always notice lack of reliance on thermal channel in daytime. Is there a doctrinal reason? I use it quite a lot, either when sweeping an area or to see trough dust.

This is a very good question. For me, I was taught to use the thermal imager (TI) in daytime as well. But the reason wasn't for visibility. It's because the EMES-15 day sight on the L2A4 did not have a wide FOV setting. That left us with only the TI for wide FOV scanning. But because War Thunder has incorrectly included the wide view for the day sight, I just use that. Can't speak for how other forces' doctrines tho. So since we fire exclusively using day sight (except at night), it's more convenient for me to use day sight only in war thunder except for longer range scanning. Hope this helps! :)

As a former Abrams gunner and tank commander, Thermal is your primary sight. Though this is first generation thermals so the picture is not crisp. Find the target in thermal and switch to day if you can’t get a good sight picture on the target.

So, it's an issue on KZbin's end. My rendered video on my PC doesn't have issues like that. Not much I can really do about it unfortunately. KZbin processing just kind of killed the quality :/

I'm curious with you talking about the effect of loosing a crew member. Do tank crews typically cross train? What I mean by that is, if the gunner say, were incapacitated, could one of the other crew members, maybe the loader or commander, take over the gun and keep the tank fighting? I realise it's going to be less efficent and degrade your combat performance, and that frankly the priority is likely to be to GTFO and get the gunner somewhere they can get proper medical attention, but just curious if it could be done if you had to (maybe you're over extended yourself and have to fight your way out or something)

Yes crews typically will cross train so they can replace each other. But the priority would be to withdraw from combat at that point

It says on Steam that there's partial controller support. So it might work but I've not tried it myself to be sure.

It is, but it's still more accurate to fire stationary. Firing on the move is more of a quick reaction or last resort, depending on the situation. Otherwise, you take the time to be as accurate as possible. A missed shot is 100% ineffective, after all.

Please, I would love to see you try steel armor PRO PE if you were a tank commander you may have heard the name, it is a game of course but it was adopted for training in simulation for tankers, if you like that kind of games you will know the steel beast blaze of war, the problem was that you could only use the m60 and the t62, I'm sure pro pe has fully modeled interiors and systems of all aspects for at least the M1 Abrams and the T-72B3 and if I remember correctly you served in a Leopard 2? The leopard 2a6 is also completely modeled and playable interactive cockpit and great things that you will know more than me, there are 39 modeled tanks of which are the main mbt of the most powerful nations militarily today, I don't know how many of those will be playable, and I speak from ignorance because of course the price of the personal license is 115 dollars and living in Argentina it is impossible for me to give myself that luxury XD anyway I know what e is a lot of money but I think you would love the game, and all of us would love to see you enjoying it, plus I think it can also be played with friends or online, double prize. Someday if you buy it and I would also love to play with you and see a tanker in action, plus laughter and enjoyment, I always enjoyed this type of game and in the search I played many I ended up staying in war thunder because it was the more complete experience,but always was searching for the ultimate simulator.
