I agree, if you have a maturing reef and you are dosing the foundation elements of calcium, magnesium and alkalinity you don't need to. You can end up stripping out too much nitrate and phosphate and the corals suffer. Glad to hear your tank is going really well. I really appreciate the comment and watching the video 👍

I think crashing is when everything is dieing and you got no choice but to restart. But one thing about this game is taking your time. Alot of issues is due to people jumping the gun, I think some KZbinrs unknowingly fuel this too, due to the need for content, always doing new things, but you take your time, things just even out. Even down to a simple thing like changing light settings, you acclimate that change over 30 days or weeks and chance of errors go down. Corals and fish are living organisms, so anything to reduce stress is a win. One thing I've learnt about this game is, take it slow and enjoy. I purposefully took 1.5 to 2years to slowly add and get my tank ready, still not finished but the amount of things I can get away with now is crazy, forgetting to auto top up, salinity spiking, levels of nitrates, phosphates..unlike my first 6months or 1year, the tank is so much more tolerable. Then again, I don't have sps, those need constant flow, water parameters but yeah..anyone new to this game. Take sh** slow and you won't face alot of problems you end up "patching" with expensive products etc. Enjoy this hobby, it like having a wife, not a new gf.
@erikreagan23393 жыл бұрын
Yeah I would not call it a crash either when every coral is open nothing is even closed. What was it that he was seeing to get worried a little slime?

I have the same no nutrients tee shirt mate. Happened to me a few months back in both my tanks. The big tank was a bit easier to fix because of the fish(biodiversity) The little frag tank was more difficult, lost half the sps. I think it’s typical to go from one problem to the next, meaning no nutrients (Dinos) then to an imbalance of nutrients (cyano/algae) Happened to me, in both tanks. It’s finding that magical balance of having the good stuff out compete the bad stuff. Good luck mate!!!
@jaysrealreefuk3 жыл бұрын

Your parameters where perfect they where better before you worried about them and change them. The no3 and po4 where not 0 and to raise it all you need to do is feed the tank. It was more likely the light change. I don't see low nutrients doing that there are so many people are starving there fish to keep no3 and po4 low. But the light change to high output sps dominant setting with no aclatimation would be a definite strain and they might get all slimy to protect. Like us getting sunburn. And all you need to do to change no3 and po4 immediately just throw in food.
