Currently doing something very similar I moved my fish and corals to a new 75 gallon as a staging tank and am in the process of building a tank stand for my new 90 gallon . The project was supposed to be done a long time ago but stuff kept coming up and because the 75 gallon was set up very poorly because it was just supposed to be temporary I lost a lot of really nice coral. My only advice is just stay on top of it and everything should be more than fine if you put established live rock in there like you plan on doing.

You have the right ideas. Definitely put the rock in a brute/vat after you build the scapes with bacteria to let it cycle and build up a bio-film. The longer the better. No light! Tell your daughter to look into Cyanoacrylate Super Glue that’s water thin (02). You combine this with sand to quickly build out your scape. It will join 2 rocks in seconds and hold them strong. Then you can hit the back of the scape with E-Marco-400 or something similar to add extreme support. Large joints and ugly mortar can easily be hidden with the sand and small pieces of rock rubble bonded with the Cyanoacrylate glue. You just put the sand on the joint or mortar and squirt it with the glue. Then throw more sand on it and soak that with the glue. Since the Cyanoacrylate is water thin... it’s easily absorbed into the sand and makes the strong bond. It’s kind of like welding. There’s a few videos on KZbin showing how to build with it so you can get an idea. Go to my channel and look at the last video to see what the result looks like. Best of luck. 👍🏼✌🏼

Thanks! Your glue process is what we did on the torch tank. It works so well. It’s also what we plan to do on this one! I appreciate the advice

I think it will work as long as you do it in stages and take your time. As a fellow artist myself you have to remember that these corals will grow. Do not focus to much on what it looks like now meaning the bare rock visualise it with corals on it that way you have better flow for corals and fish.

I think that was our problem for the first aquascape. We are trying our best to consider all of this on the next one. It is so easy to get caught up on how the rocks look without thinking of coral growth and placement. We have also learned it is important to think of how large fish will move through the tank. I think this scape will be awesome! We will keep everyone updated and we really value all the advice.

I agree! I just dont know how to do it without losing my livestock. I think I will stick with what I have for now, but I really would love a 250 to 300

Here’s the glue I’m using. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00C32ME6G/ref=ya_aw_od_pi?ie=UTF8&psc=1 These are good to scape with since regular gloves rip and the rubber will get stuck to the scape. www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B074XCXVCM?ref=ppx_pt2_mob_b_prod_image

Thanks! Wish I had seen this earlier. I ordered the glue tidal guardians used, glue, pmasters, but amazon did not have large sizes so shipping is slower. I just ordered the gloves
