This is great professionalism, but it's also because they're super experienced session musicians (hint in their project name =). I'm really not sure if it was recorded live, probably tracked (the lag would wreak havoc on rhythm). I'm almost sure they had a metronome in their ears either way to keep tempo (like in any session recording). What I mean is, if they were on one stage with good monitoring, they really could have played without a metronome and make it even more alive (fluctuating a bit). They made the absolute best of playing remotely.
@danielfennessey4 жыл бұрын

It’s fascinating to hear how the different environments affect the sound of the piece. The acoustics aren’t as great as a studio recording or live experience, but the sheer skill and energy of the musicians more than makes up for it. Incredible stuff!

@Lkease4 жыл бұрын
@@sebastian-benedictflore It's the drummer for sure. In every other video, the drummer just doesn't get it, yknow? They end up playing a half-baked version of the original. In this version, and the OST, the drummer plays right on the beat with so much energy. Not to mention the ghost notes and hihat flutters that fill the dead space, and the fills/solos that just match the song perfectly. Every cover I've seen, it's a rock or hiphop drummer that just can't jazz it up. I mean, it sure does help that there's also backup percussionists, and hella mixing/mastering, but this is way more exposed than the original version, yet the drums still sound identical.

Nobody fully appreciates the work that drummers put in. I've been playing drums for a little over 5 years. I mainly play dance punk and rock with a little bit of metal. Nobody realizes how HARD it is to play jazz drums. I've tried even though I've been playing for a few years and I can't get it. One of the songs I wanna learn over time is this song even though I'm not the biggest fan of Cowboy Bebop. I just know the song and how amazing the drums in it are. God damn. The drums are perfection. They work perfectly with the song. They don't overwhelm the song or underwhelm the song. It's just perfect. Put more respect on drummers >:(
