Might not be state of the art in 2019, but it still builds into a *very* nice model representation and is super value. Considering that the mould is nearly four and a half decades old, comes with four relevant and realistically posed decently sculpted injection moulded figures which build and still scrub up surprisingly well, and the Pak, with options of loaded Stielgranate 41 or 37mm barrel and accessories. i.e. Stielgranate 41, Panzergranate ammunition cases, empty and full, rounds, empty shell cases. Lovely *very* affordable kit which characteristic of Tamiya is a pleasurable reasonably quick and easy build, and makes an versatile theatre and period diorama. As always, its the figure painting which soaks up time.

Interesting to hear that you plan on using hobby paints! I mix my own colours from my acrylic paint supplies that I have for when I paint pictures. Getting the right consistency is a biggie, but the rewards are great! I use acrylic spray-cans for the primers and a few dedicated metal acrylics (which I love) but even a copper metallic hobby paint. I do all this to minimize the effects of odours from oil-based thinners and paints - and it's cheaper to use your "own" colours 😊

I just built the 1/35 Dragon version of this kit and man, I wish I gone with this Tamiya kt. The Dragon instructions are photographs which do not translate well and are pretty incoherent. I so wish I had seen this first, I just wasted a lot of effort trying to salvage my Dragon kit, which I did but man, whatta chore. There really is no comparison when it comes to any Tamiya kit. They are always well engineered and go together seamlessly. This guy did a nice job on his.

Thanks mate. I feel with you, opened a 2005 dragon jagdpanzer IV today, quality was much lower than expected. The old tamiya one I have as well has a much better fit, but still its own problems from beeing pre-CAD : /

This is really a nice model, the build options are very intriguing, it's genial give some accessories for the sdkfz/251 , I saw this gun in an episode of Band of Brothers (Battle of Carentan), the only problem is that the figures are for the early war
@Tankbrusher4 жыл бұрын
it's great fun to build it as well : ) Figures beeing early period does fits the model - for upgrading a halftrack, would you not need a different figure kit anyway?
@theblytonian39064 жыл бұрын
Given that the predominant period of active deployment for this PaK was early war, early war uniforms for the accompanying crew makes the most sense. Important too to remember this mould dates from tooling now nearly 50 ears old. Back in the day, knowledge at all that the German Heer uniform changed constantly throughout the war wasn't generally known, let alone the minutae of it promulgated or researchable with the ease it is today courtesy of internet. One of the 1/35 miniatures focused companies like Master Box, Mini Art, ICM or Dragon possibly have suitable alternative available? Alternatively for about three times the price of Tamiya's venerable offering, Zvezda (3610) have a newer tool released this decade of the same weapon with a nicely detailed crew included OOTB. I don't think the gun is a vast improvement over Tamiya's, and it's a two piece barrel unfortunately, but the crew are later war period in smocks.

@Tankbrusher4 жыл бұрын
Hi, 1/32 scale figures? Hard to tell, noticed different proportions in 1/35 across many manufacturers. Can tell you as a Person from Germany, there is no standard "Hans" : ) So it should look fine.

It would be great if tamiya done new kits of these and likes the British 6 pounder from same time they all do show there age and very poor detail for the likes of nowadays! I went and bought the Krupp protze the Bronco one with this in towy god good old Bronco with the over engineering! That's why we need new tamiya one's.

the pak 40 was a pain in the ass with pretty terrible instructions, I spent nearly 30 min getting A34 into the spots then later looking to find out theyre facing the wrong direction. partially my fault, partially the directions fault.
